Dark Souls 3 is officially sold on PC only on Steam , so the path to the save files for the licensed version of the game will be the same:
- C:/Users/[Username]/AppData/Roaming/DarkSoulsIII/[ Your Steam ID ]/
However, some users may have trouble finding certain folders. For example, AppData is hidden by default in Windows File Explorer. To reveal it, simply check the “Hidden items” box or press Win + R and enter %AppData% in the window that opens.
You can read about how to find your Steam ID, which is what your saves folder is named after, in our other guide .
By the way, the saves for the Ashes of Ariandel and The Ringed City add-ons are located there too.
For owners of unlicensed copies of Dark Souls 3, finding saves will take even more time, as they could be anywhere. Here are some examples from the most popular pirated downloads:
- C:/Users/[Username]/AppData/Roaming/DarkSoulsIII/0110000100000666/
- C:/Users/Public/Documents/Steam/CODEX/374320/
- C:/Games/[Folder with installed game]/Game/OfflineStorage/Player/remote/
Those who want to try Dark Souls 3 on the Steam Deck will also have to search their saves in a different way, since on Linux the Steam saves folder is located in a completely different location:
- ~/.steam/steam/userdata/[Your Steam ID]/374320/
