Towards the end of 2025, Lunacy dropped two new gaming gadgets – the Kanagawa and Longwei keyboards, both designed in an oriental aesthetic. We recently reviewed the first model, and now we’ll talk about the second.
The Lunacy Longwei was packaged in a large, thick cardboard box painted red. A schematic image of the model was painted in gold on the lid, icons referencing Chinese aesthetics were placed on the sides , and a crouching dragon, accompanied by text about Longwei’s philosophy, lurked at the bottom.
The interior of the box is divided into several sections, which contain:
Lunacy notes that the Longwei is a premium version of the previously released Lunacy In Space model , featuring an oriental design and upgraded with premium G3MS Diamond switches. It also comes with a matching mouse pad. Furthermore, the model was produced in a limited edition of 2,222 units, and each sample received its own serial number—for example, ours is number 1819.
While the design of the Lunacy Kanagawa, the hero of our review, is inspired by the print “The Great Wave off Kanagawa,” the Lunacy Longwei references the legends of the Chinese dragon, which is reflected in the keyboard’s appearance: the body is painted red, and the keys depict a mythical monster ready to attack.
This new product features a 98% form factor, with nearly the same key set as a full-size 100% keyboard. Its compact design allows it to take up approximately the same amount of desktop space as a TKL or 75% form factor model. So you don’t have to worry about the device interfering with your mouse movements during intense gaming.
The keyboard’s body is made of plastic and is robustly and securely assembled. On the left side is a small volume control wheel. On the back is a USB-C port and two switches: one for switching connection modes and one for selecting the operating system (Win/Mac).
The device rests on a tabletop with silicone feet. A pair of fold-out feet at the base allow the rear of the device to be raised relative to the front, improving ergonomics.
The top right of the deck features a small TFT display that displays connection type, battery level, date and time, and other information. It can display an image or GIF, and in alternate mode, it can be used to customize the keyboard backlight .
The keycaps are made of durable, abrasion-resistant, double-molded PBT plastic. The characters are translucent, including both Latin and Cyrillic, allowing you to play and work even late at night. The CSA keycaps offer a comfortable, wide contact pad and rounded corners.
The overall design impression of the Lunacy Longwei is definitely positive. Despite its compact form factor, the keyboard isn’t overly bulky, yet it’s substantial and sturdy, creating a feeling of reliability. Its unique design will complement any gaming setup .
The model supports three connection modes: USB, Bluetooth, and 2.4 GHz radio. Bluetooth can be used for work tasks, and the ability to connect to three devices and switch between them makes it easy to connect the keyboard to multiple devices—for example, a PC, tablet , and TV. USB and 2.4 GHz radio connections are best suited for gaming, as they provide minimal input lag and fast response times.
Out of the box, the device comes with pre-installed hotkey commands that can be used to launch system applications, control the music player, change the backlight , and so on.
To access more features, you need to download the proprietary driver from the Lunacy website. The app includes functions for assigning keys, controlling the backlight, setting display animations, and resetting the keyboard. While the software isn’t required, it’s a good idea to have it installed.
The Lunacy Longwei is equipped with G3MS Diamond mechanical linear switches, which feature a 55g actuation force, a 67g stop actuation force, and a dual gold-plated spring for increased key travel. This results in a noticeable tactile feedback and eliminates accidental keystrokes.
If necessary, the included switches can be replaced with any compatible ones without soldering – the keyboard supports hot swapping.
However, this isn’t the only customization option. The package includes an additional plate and noise-isolating pads, which can be used to alter the device’s sonic properties. However, right out of the box, the Lunacy Longwei sounds very pleasant and quiet, thanks to the dampers that isolate the circuit board and plate from the case, and the layers of foam and silicone underneath the plate. The result is no unwanted noise, no echo, and no annoying ringing.
The new model is equipped with a 4000 mAh battery. With the display and backlight turned on, it provides 12 to 14 hours of battery life. The model charges from 0 to 100% in an hour and a half.
The Lunacy Longwei is an excellent gaming keyboard with an original design, high-quality assembly, a built-in display, premium switches, and a rich package.
Yes, the new product is not cheap, but given its limited edition and impressive set of accessories, this drawback is understandable. However, the final decision on whether to purchase is ultimately yours.
