In 2023, the puzzle platformer Planet of Lana was released on PC and Xbox One|Series, and in 2024, it arrived on PlayStation 4|5 and Nintendo Switch. But the developers didn’t stop there, and soon announced a sequel, scheduled for release in 2026. While we wait for the sequel, we have a reason to replay the adventure, as Planet of Lana recently launched on mobile platforms. We share our impressions of the portable version of the game.
The mobile version of Planet of Lana leaves the plot unchanged. If you’re unfamiliar with the game, it follows the adventures of a girl named Lana, who witnesses an alien invasion . When the aliens kidnap her sister, Ilo, she sets out to find her, enlisting the help of a cute pet named Mui.
The characters will face numerous challenges, witness some rather brutal scenes, and solve numerous puzzles along the way. Planet of Lana is reminiscent of Limbo and Inside, yet retains its own distinctive character, captivating with its distant planetary landscapes, wordless storytelling, and surprising with its inventive puzzles.
The game is short, so you won’t get bored throughout the entire playthrough: it’s a beautiful and engaging platformer that you won’t want to put down.
The measured and simple gameplay, vibrant visuals , and lack of detail made Planet of Lana suitable for mobile platforms. The game fits perfectly into the portable format, and the developers implemented convenient touch controls: a virtual joystick for character movement is located on the left side of the screen, while the right side features buttons for interaction, crouching, and jumping.
Additionally, the developers have provided the ability to customize the gameplay experience. For example, the control scheme can be left standard or made immersive, with only the interaction button remaining on-screen. You can also enable automatic QTEs , crouching, and ledge grabbing. Graphics options include the ability to choose between quality and performance modes, and set the frame rate to 30 or 60 fps, depending on your smartphone’s performance .
Finally, the game now features achievements, cloud saving between iOS and Android, and controller compatibility — basically, everything you need for a comfortable experience.
If you missed Planet of Lana on older platforms or are looking to refresh your memories while waiting for the sequel scheduled for 2026, the mobile port is a great option for a first or second encounter. Vibrant, comfortable, and immersive, the game will provide an unforgettable experience.
