Project Zomboid Guide: Where to Find Save Files

Despite its modest appearance, this game can both delight and terrify with its limitless possibilities, offering players thousands of ways to survive and die horribly in the zombie apocalypse. It also features mod support, a co-op mode, and even multiplayer servers. While exploring each of these features, you may need to tinker with your save files, so we’ve decided to explain where to find Project Zomboid saves.

In fact, regardless of whether you have a pirated version of the game or a licensed one from Steam or GOG , on Windows, Project Zomboid save files can be found here:

  • C:/Users/[Username]/Zomboid/Saves/

As you can see, there are two folders where the saves of the single-player campaign and multiplayer sessions are stored.

However, for devices running other operating systems, the path to the save folder will differ:

Linux (Steam Deck):

  • ~/.steam/steam/userdata/[ Your Steam ID ]/108600/

macOS (OS X):

  • $HOME/Zomboid/Saves/
