Where to Find All Winter Lights Chests in Palia: A Complete Guide to Zeki’s Challenge

With the holiday season upon us , Palia continues its annual tradition of blanketing Kilima in snow, icicles, and Christmas decorations as part of the Winter Lights update. The final update of 2025 offers festive challenges, new decorations for your lot, and another board with rewards and friendship points.

One of the first tasks players will be asked to complete is a treasure hunt, where Zeki has hidden several chests that can only be found by solving riddles. For those searching for all the hidden Winter Lights chest locations in Palia , this guide contains the solution to each riddle.

All Winter Lights Chest Locations in Palia

After the Winter Lights update launches in December 2025, players will find a note from Zeki in their mailbox containing seven short riddles. These riddles point to the locations of seven themed chests. To complete the quest, players must find and open all of these chests.

You can reread the riddles at any time by taking the book from the corner of the counter in Zeki’s shop.

Location of the first Winter Lights chest

The first one quenches his thirst at the hotel’s outer docks.

The first chest is located on the outskirts of Kilima’s central village, behind the inn where Ret and Ashura usually work. Docks adjoin the building: some extend underneath the structure, others are attached to the main building at ground level.

To find the chest, go around the back of the building and look to the side to find a water tank. The chest will be hidden behind it. This location is at coordinate E7 on the map.

Location of the second Winter Lights chest

The second one was heading to Embra, but slipped on the rocks.

For players who follow Palia lore, this chest won’t be much of a problem.

However, if you don’t know who Embra is, this hint won’t be very helpful. First, players should understand that Embra is the name of the Great Phoenix in the world of Palia .

Based on this, you need to head to Phoenix Falls in the northernmost central part of Kilima, where a large statue of Embra is located. Upon arrival, look to the left of the first ramp leading to the shrine. The chest is hidden among the rocks by the river. This location is at map coordinate F4 .

Location of the third Winter Lights chest

The third one is at the pond and can’t find his way down.

In this riddle, pay special attention to the word “pond,” as it provides a specific clue about the location. To find the chest, head to the Mirror Pool ruins in Kilim.

The second part of the riddle narrows down the search area nicely, as the area is quite large and open. The phrase “can’t find a way down” indicates that the chest is located on a raised platform. Look for a large fallen column, almost leaning against a tree. This location is at coordinate D3 on the map .

The chest can be a bit tricky to retrieve due to its location and the inability to climb the tree. The best strategy is to glide to the tree and quickly press the collect button (F on PC).

Location of the fourth Winter Lights chest

The fourth one catches Zzz in the city office.

The mention of a study makes finding this chest easier, as there’s essentially only one building in Kilim where a study can be found. To find the chest, head to the Town Hall, where you can purchase additional land decrees and craftsman’s licenses to increase your plot capacity.

There are two offices in the Town Hall building.

The most obvious choice, you might think, is Kenley’s office, as the phrase “catching Zzz” is perfectly suited to the mayor. However, the chest is not in his office, but in Ashe’s. Go upstairs and into her office—the chest will be to the right of the entrance. This location is at coordinate F7 on the map.

Location of the fifth Winter Lights chest

The fifth one thinks that it is hidden under the gazebo.

The fifth chest can only be found in a few specific locations throughout Kilim, making it a bit easier to find, but it can be deceptively difficult to spot. This particular chest is located in a gazebo, which is actually located near the Town Hall, where we found the previous chest.

Players should head to the gazebo near the Town Hall in the Village Center, easily recognizable by the Christmas tree inside. Approach the tree and you’ll find a chest among the Christmas presents. This location is located at coordinate F7 on the map.

Location of the sixth Winter Lights chest

The Sixth isn’t eavesdropping – ask Gina, she knows!

The sixth chest is perhaps the most difficult to find, as the reference to Gina can be both helpful and detrimental, depending on how well you know the character. Players should keep two things in mind: Gina, unlike characters like Tish, doesn’t have a home in Kilim, and she has a very close relationship with Hekla.

It’s Hekla, not Gina, who should be your focus. The mention that Gina can be asked about eavesdropping hints that she spends a lot of time where the chest is hidden. Therefore, the chest can be found hidden behind Hekla’s tent in the northwest corner of Kilima. This location is at coordinate C4 on the map.

Location of the seventh Winter Lights chest

The seventh is the last one, and then you’ll have them all. Just look in the shadows near old Butterball!

The last clue can also be tricky, as understanding who Butterball is is a rather specific reference in the game. However, after exploring Kilima’s locations, one can guess that Butterball is most likely the name of an animal, and there’s only one location on the map where they’re kept.

The final chest is located at the Badruu Family Farm. There are two pens containing large ormu, which can be adopted as pets, but you should search the smaller one. The final chest is hidden in a small shed in this pen. This location is at coordinate C6 on the map.

Players looking to complete the Winter Lights set board presented as part of the seasonal event should complete Zeki’s quest as soon as possible, as one of the resources needed to complete the set is locked behind this quest.
