A Complete Guide to Trading and Earning Trade Coins in Where Winds Meet

Money is precious. Most of us struggle to earn it, and prices only seem to rise. And if you thought games were a way to escape reality, Where Winds Meet is ready to throw a cold shower. No one can escape the long arm of the economy.

Free-to-play games typically require you to manage multiple currencies, and Where Winds Meet is no exception. It features a fully-fledged trading system and a small simulated economy that you’ll need to invest in if you truly want to get rich. Here’s everything you need to know to feel like a real stockbroker.

What is trade?

Contrary to popular belief, trading in Where Winds Meet has nothing to do with exchanging personal items with other players . Other players’ worlds matter, but the players themselves, for the most part, do not.

You trade in a more businesslike sense. You buy goods , preferably when their prices fall, and sell them when they skyrocket . This is essentially the flow of the economy. Seize the opportunity, no matter how cruel the purchase, simply for the sake of profit. Essentially, you’re reselling.

All of this can be done entirely in single-player mode , but online mode will give you additional options, as price fluctuations are unique to each player.

Tracking price fluctuations

To take advantage of the unstable economy and start lining your pockets, you need to keep an eye on the market . You can do this at the Trade Commission in Kaifeng City, north of the southern entrance. By speaking with Zhang Qiyue , you’ll learn current prices and the goods whose prices are fluctuating.

The general pattern of market change is as follows:

  • Sunday – Prices for three random items will change, and stocks will be fully replenished if they were empty.
  • Monday – prices will change again and stocks will also be replenished.
  • Rest of Week – Prices set on Monday remain for the rest of the week, giving you time to sell your items before any further changes occur over the weekend.

By speaking with Zhang Qiyue, you can also check market movements just before the weekend . This will give you an idea of which commodities will experience price fluctuations and whether they will rise or fall. This is important for planning.

With Zhang, you can also check the prices of items that fluctuate in other players’ worlds , and see if you can make a profit by selling or even buying items there.

When prices fluctuate, items are marked as “Solo” or “Coop .” “Solo” items can only be sold in your own world, while “Coop” items can be sold in other players’ worlds.

Where to buy goods

When prices fluctuate, the corresponding goods can be purchased at Feng’s Trading Hall , located right next to the Trade Commission. However, the goods can also be purchased from various merchants around the world.

There are a huge number of goods in the game, and it can be profitable to stock up on them even when prices aren’t fluctuating . Each item has a limited supply each week, and stocking up early will give you more to sell when prices rise.

Merchants selling these goods are scattered throughout the world, although the majority are located in the city of Kaifeng .

These items are still purchased with Trade Coins , so make sure you have enough of them before you start buying items.

Where to sell trade goods

When it comes to selling trade goods, you only have one option: Feng’s Trading Hall . When talking to him, simply choose the sell option instead of the buy option.

When you check his inventory, it will reflect price changes so you can understand whether you are making a profit or loss when buying or selling items from him.

You can also go to Feng’s Trading Hall while in another player’s world to sell trade goods, taking advantage of local price fluctuations.

Real estate rental

Unlike many other items you obtain in the game, trade goods have a separate section in your inventory and a limited number of slots. If you try to stockpile them, you can quickly reach this limit. However, you can increase your inventory for a fee.

Unlike spending money on expanding your gear bag, you need a physical place to store your trade goods , and that requires renting a house. Not buying one, but renting one.

In Feng’s Trading Hall, you can also inquire about available premises, which gives you a choice of three different properties available for rent . Each one costs more Trade Coins to rent, but offers more storage space for your goods.

You can also hire multiple of these objects to further increase your trading goods storage.

When you rent a property, you’re renting it temporarily in the real world . You can choose to rent for several months or pay monthly.

There is no automatic debit, so you will have to visit Feng’s Trading Hall yourself every time you need to pay your rent.

However, these are real buildings in the city of Kaifeng, so you can visit them and even decorate their interiors. They also offer unique recreational opportunities and serve as fast travel points.
