In the depths of the magical canvas, you’ll find a multitude of playful and merry Gestrals. Although, to be fair, Gestrals aren’t as harmless as they seem at first glance. One of them even managed to lose his pirate ship, which was washed away by a wave right off the top of the waterfall.
Many Gestrals in Verso Sketches congregate in small groups in a few specific locations. The Pirate Trio can be found south of the diving board minigame, near a wooden seesaw with another challenge. They are two small Gestrals and a larger one, standing together in the water near land, surrounded by a pair of toy boats.
After talking to them, you’ll learn they’re currently engaged in what they call a “treasure hunt,” though it’s actually more of a rescue operation. While playing with his toy pirate ship, a large gestral miscalculated his strength and created high waves. As a result, the ship was carried away by the current and washed over the falls.
After talking to the Gestrals, even though they themselves have no idea where the ship is, you still receive an important clue: after being caught by a wave, it fell down a waterfall. And, by a happy coincidence, that same waterfall is located south of the Gestrals. Follow that direction and jump down. You’ll find a shallow pool of water ahead, and at first glance, there won’t be any pirate ship there. Unless, of course, you decide to turn around.
If you look behind the waterfall, you can spot objects hidden by the streams of water. Of course, any self-respecting game world must have a secret cave behind the waterfall, and Clair Obscur has one in “Verso Sketches.” The toy pirate ship itself is quite large, making it virtually impossible to miss inside the cave.
After picking up the item, return to the trio of Gestrals. They’ll be delighted and will reward you with a piece of birthday cake.
