How to increase chest capacity in Hytale

In Hytale, players often run out of storage space. In this guide, we’ll show you how to easily and effectively increase the capacity of your chests.

The problem with standard chests:
Regardless of their material—wood or iron—all standard chests in Hytale are the same size (one block) and have a fixed capacity of 18 slots . Simply stacking one chest on top of another won’t help, as workbenches won’t “see” the resources in chests located above ground level.

Solution: Creating a Double Chest
The secret to increasing storage capacity is to place two identical chests next to each other . If done correctly, maintaining the exact distance, they will merge into one large chest.

The capacity of this double chest doubles from 18 to 36 slots . All resources in it will automatically be available for crafting at nearby workbenches. A regular chest will become a “Double Rough Chest,” an iron chest will become a “Large Iron Chest,” and so on.

Important nuances

• Only two chests can be combined. Trying to stack four chests in a square will result in the creation of two independent double chests, side by side.
• Chests and workbenches must be placed on the same type of block (tile). If the floor materials are different, the workbench will not be able to access the resources in the chest.
• The quality of the materials (e.g., hardwood or softwood) doesn’t affect the chest’s capacity . It only determines its durability, which could become important if base raids are added to the game.
