Equipment and design

The Lunacy Louder headphones are packaged in a massive blue box, the brand’s signature color. The front of the package features a projection of the model, while the back lists the technical specifications.

Upon opening the box, the owner will find a plastic base covered with a cardboard sleeve under the lid, on which the accessories are placed: a fabric bag for storing the headphones, two 1.5-meter USB-A to USB-C cables in a fabric braid, an envelope with a welcome letter from Booster and a couple of stickers, a user manual in Russian, a removable microphone, and the bottom part of the headphone stand.

Next comes the foam padding, and underneath that, in a foam/foam mold, are the Lunacy Louder earphones, the top of the stand, the 2.4GHz charging station/dongle, and the replaceable battery: the model has a unique hot-swappable battery feature for uninterrupted gaming.

The model is white with gray accents. The massive earcups are attached to the large headband with plastic arches that rotate around an axis, allowing the earcups to rotate more than 90 degrees: this allows, for example, the headphones to be stowed in a backpack without taking up much space.

The steel headband is finished in plastic with the brand name printed on both sides, but the area where it touches the head is padded with a soft fabric insert.

The earcups are equipped with memory foam-filled earpads. The outer earpads are lined with hypoallergenic synthetic leather for noise isolation, while the inner earpads are lined with fabric to keep your ears dry even during extended gaming sessions. The fabric also covers the dual 50mm and 30mm drivers: the former delivers deep bass, while the latter focuses on clear highs.

All controls are located on the left earcup. Here you’ll find the headphone on/off button, the mode switch, the microphone on/off button, the volume control wheel, the LED indicator, the microphone jack, and the built-in microphone port—which can be used, for example, for making calls if you’re wearing headphones while walking and detaching the main microphone.

Meanwhile, the right earcup features a cover marked with three raised dots. It’s held in place by magnets and easily removed, revealing the earphones’ removable battery. This is the Lunacy Louder’s key feature: if the device runs low on battery, you can easily remove the battery and place it in the charging station, then install the second included battery in its place. Furthermore, the earphones contain an additional mini-battery, which provides a few minutes of battery life while you’re changing the battery. This is a first for us, and it’s quite possible that the Lunacy Louder are the first earphones to offer this unique feature.

The docking station is made of plastic and features the brand’s logo, which glows white to indicate the battery’s charge status. It’s perhaps a bit too bright, and in the dark it’ll be so blinding that you’ll want to unscrew it. The battery is firmly inserted into the docking station until it clicks into place and is easily removed. The rear of the docking station features two ports: a USB-C input for use as a dongle and charging station, and a USB-A output, which can be used to charge other devices, for example.

The headphone stand features a wide base with the Lunacy brand name, a long stem, and a small spacer bar for hanging headphones. The bottom of the base is lined with a soft material that effectively dampens vibrations.

The new model is impressive, primarily due to its comprehensive package and unique features. The fit is also excellent – snug and comfortable, with full ear coverage, and glasses don’t interfere with the headphones at all. And what’s more, the model looks more expensive than it is.

Connection and setup

Lunacy Louder supports two connection modes: Bluetooth 5.4 and 2.4 GHz. When connected via Bluetooth, SBC and AAC codecs are available. There is no wired connection, but the headphones can be charged via a USB cable.

Interestingly, there’s an option to enable dual-mode audio, which combines Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz. This allows you to connect the device to, for example, a PC and a smartphone , and simultaneously play games and talk on the phone, receiving audio from both sources.

Out of the box, the user has access to a set of preset commands. The full list is provided in the included manual. In short, you can change the equalizer, control the player and calls, mute the microphone, select connection modes, and more. Many commands are announced either by a beep or by voice prompts in Russian. For example, when turning on the headphones, the voice will say “Hello” and then “Device connected.”

Lunacy Louder also has a proprietary driver. The app is divided into two categories: headphones and microphone. You can select subcategories by right-clicking on the relevant category and selecting the desired item from the list.

For headphones, you can adjust the volume and left/right speaker balance, adjust the equalizer, enable the “Lunacy Surround Headphone” option, which simulates surround sound in a large room, enable the “Lunacy Audio Brilliant” option, which improves the sharpness of the sound, improving the sound quality of compressed formats, and enable the “Lunacy Dynamic Bass” option, which enhances the low frequencies.

The microphone has two options: volume control and AI noise reduction.

By and large, you can get by without the app, as the headphones themselves offer a wide range of features, but if you want to expand the model’s functionality a little further, the driver will come in handy.

Impressions of use

The Lunacy Louder uses dual 50mm and 30mm drivers to separate frequencies, allowing each driver to deliver sound within its own range without overload. This means you’ll get powerful bass, detailed highs, and balanced mids.

There’s a slight bias toward the low frequencies, which isn’t surprising: Lunacy is a gaming brand, and in games, it’s important for explosions and gunshots to resonate in gamers’ ears, so the bass is typically rich and expressive. However, this doesn’t hinder listening to music with headphones, as the detail remains high regardless.

The mode switch on the left earcup lets you select EQ presets. “Bass Boost” further accentuates the lows. “Vocal Boost” adds a touch of brightness to vocals. “Treble Boost” slightly relegates the bass to the background, bringing out the mids and highs. “No EQ” mode returns the sound to the default settings.

Even without setup, the Lunacy Louders sound great. You can unpack the headphones after purchase, turn them on, and immediately experience high-quality sound. With a little tweaking, it gets even better.

The new product features two microphones. The main one is detachable and suitable for in-game communication , streaming , content recording, and more. It records well and can compete with inexpensive desktop microphones. AI noise cancellation is a welcome feature, filtering out extraneous sounds. However, the lack of a pop filter may result in minor distortions. The additional built-in microphone is suitable for calls—for example, if you go for a walk with headphones, leaving the main microphone at home. Don’t expect outstanding results from it, but during a test call, the person on the other end of the line reported hearing the speaker’s voice clearly.

The built-in battery lasts a claimed 45 hours of gaming, even at above-average volume levels. Turning down the volume can result in longer playtime . However, with the included spare battery and charging station, the headphones essentially offer unlimited battery life, as if the battery runs low, you can easily remove it and charge it, then insert a spare one in its place. This solves the age-old problem with wireless headphones: the need to occasionally connect them to a PC via a wire.

Speaking of connectivity, Lunacy Louders are compatible not only with PCs but also with PlayStation consoles and mobile devices. However, you’ll need to find a place to place the dongle/charging station, which can be inconvenient if your console is on the floor, for example. However, this isn’t a major issue—it’s just a minor inconvenience that won’t affect everyone.

Conclusion

The Lunacy Louder is an amazing gaming headset with a number of undeniable advantages, including a comprehensive package, high-quality sound that will surely appeal to lovers of powerful bass, a removable battery with a spare battery included, dual-mode connectivity with the ability to connect to two devices simultaneously, a good microphone, and a neat design.

All this is complemented by an affordable price of 11,990 rubles, as for a flagship device.

As for the model’s drawbacks, it’s worth noting the somewhat stiff headband, the limited app features, and the lack of high-quality codecs when connected via Bluetooth. Perhaps, given the numerous advantages, these shortcomings can be overlooked, but the final decision is ultimately yours.
