In the shooter Mouse: PI For Hire, in addition to the main storyline, Jack Pepper can help other monochrome rodents living in Mouseburg. This is done through side missions that earn you money, baseball cards, and blueprints.
You can also check out our main guide , which includes general information on side quests, a list of them, and links to each individual article with a detailed walkthrough.
Before heading out to the streets of Mouseburg and visiting the film set as part of the quest “Once Upon a Time in…” from Lurex Brothers, visit Jack Pepper’s friend, Wanda Fuller.
Like most other side missions in Mouse: PI For Hire, the mission “Expensive Items” is technically skippable, as it is not a required step to progress through the main storyline.
If you want to make sure you’ve done everything correctly, read our detailed guide below.
How to start the “Expensive Things” quest
After completing the main story quest “Cheese Sandwich” and returning to the detective’s office , you’ll meet a new character. This is Vivian McCarthy, a “French” actress, who will ask you to investigate the disappearance of an actress from a film set on Brothers Avenue. After this conversation, you can begin the next main quest, “Once Upon a Time in…” by Lurex Brothers.
But don’t rush! Before heading off by car to your destination, you should stop at the bar and speak with Wanda Fuller. She’s located at the entrance to the Little & Big bar, directly across from the door leading to Detective Jack Pepper’s office.
Chat with her, and she’ll ask you to find some clues on Brothers Avenue that will help her find a missing friend. Jack will automatically agree, and information about the “Expensive Things” side quest will appear on the screen. Don’t leave the detective’s office until you see the additional objective on the screen!
Evidence #1
Get in the car and head out on your mission. Head to Brothers Avenue in the upper left corner of the game world and begin the main mission.
Begin the mission, but don’t rush, as the first clue can be found near the starting point. Clue #1 for Wanda Fuller is located on the same streets where the level begins. If you hacked the door in the alley and ended up in a restaurant with enemies, you’ve already passed the first clue.
Instead, you need to find an overturned truck used to transport blue cheese. Next to it lies a pile of bones. You’ll know you’re in the right place when, looking at the truck and the bones, a prompt appears, allowing you to take a photo of the object of interest.
If you’re having trouble finding this place, it’s right across from a movie theater with a giant Swamp Man on its sign. Walk from the theater to the end of the street and you’ll find what you’re looking for.
Be sure to take a photo of the overturned truck. The first clue has been found, but the quest isn’t over! To complete this side quest, you’ll have to go a little further. There’s still one more clue left.
Evidence #2
Continue through the main story mission “Once Upon a Time in…” by Lurex Brothers naturally, and wait until you reach a film set where you’ll have to fight enemies. Once there, you’ll see several chairs for the audience, behind which is a stage with objects suspended from the ceiling that you can drop on the enemies (shoot the rope).
Eliminate all enemies, then continue to the far side of the stage. At the very end, you’ll reach the final room, where more enemies await. After you’ve dealt with them all, take note of the bookshelf at the end of the room, located behind the sofa.
Approach her to find a letter addressed to Wanda Fuller herself. Take it, as it’s the second and final piece of evidence needed to complete the “Expensive Things” side quest.
There’s still the main mission “Once Upon a Time in…” by Lurex Brothers to complete, so keep going and you’ll eventually be able to return to the detective’s office in the center of Mouseburg.
Reward
Upon returning to town, head straight to Wanda Fuller to hand over the evidence you’ve collected and receive your reward. As usual, she’s standing in her usual spot—at the side entrance to the Little & Big bar, directly across from the front door to Detective Jack Pepper’s office.
Talk to her to share all the evidence you’ve collected. Interestingly, none of the information you provide will seem particularly shocking to her, and she’ll even say she hopes you didn’t have to work too hard to get it, as she didn’t learn anything new.
For your efforts, Wanda will reward you with a hefty 150 coins. While you’re here, check out the shop across the street. They might have something interesting on sale.
