Equipment and design

The headphones come in a cardboard box with an image of the model and a list of its technical specifications, as well as key features: wireless connection, 53mm driver, up to 80 hours of battery life.

Inside, the owner will find a Red Square EONIX headset in black or white, depending on the model, a removable microphone and pop filter, a USB-A to USB-C charging cable, a USB dongle for connecting via a 2.4 GHz radio channel (it is a composite one, which allows the choice of connecting to a USB-A or USB-C port), and a user manual in Russian.

The new headset features a classic “aviation” design, with oval earcups and a thick headband connected to the earcups via Y-shaped arches. The headband is covered in faux leather, and its interior is filled with soft foam. The fit can be adjusted using retractable arches that lock into nine positions, adapting to the user’s head size.

The earcups are quite large and made of matte plastic that resists fingerprints. A tactile decorative inlay is located on the outer surface of each earcup. The earpads are made of eco-leather and filled with memory foam. The 53mm drivers are covered in a fabric cover with markings for the right and left earcups.

The controls are located on the left earcup: a power key, a status LED, a microphone mute key, a volume control wheel, a USB-C port for charging, and a microphone jack with a key to prevent it from being inserted incorrectly.

The microphone is positioned on a flexible boom so the capsule points toward the user’s mouth. A pop filter is included to filter out unwanted sounds. The microphone is securely attached to the jack, preventing accidental removal.

Although the Red Square EONIX weigh 297 grams, the well-balanced weight distribution and snug fit make them virtually weightless. The soft ear cushions make them suitable for use with glasses. The only nitpick is the slightly sloppy assembly, which causes the earpieces to wobble slightly in their grooves.

Connection and setup

Budget headphones typically only support wired connections, but the Red Square EONIX now supports wireless 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth. You can switch between modes by double-pressing the power button.

What’s more, the new device can be connected to two sources simultaneously, such as a PC and a smartphone , to simultaneously receive game audio and answer phone calls. To do this, first connect the device to the first device, then manually disconnect and connect to the second source, and then manually connect to the first device.

You can control the headset’s functions using the buttons on the left earcup. The power button turns the headphones on and off, switches connection modes, plays music, and accepts and rejects calls. The microphone button lets you mute the microphone, change the equalizer mode, and reset all Bluetooth connections.

The model responds to commands with indicator signals and audio feedback, the latter in Russian. The headset will notify the owner about power on and off, connection to an audio source, low battery, equalizer mode switching, and other conditions.

Impressions of use

The Red Square EONIX is equipped with 53mm drivers, which deliver a decent volume and a good frequency balance. The new headset also features a built-in “bass boost” equalizer preset, which enhances low frequencies—perfect for fans of pounding tracks and powerful explosions. The out-of-the-box sound may not be entirely satisfying for discerning music lovers, but it’s perfectly adequate for the casual user. If you need more precise tuning, you’ll need to use third-party tools.

In games, the model delivers excellent stereo with precise source positioning. You can easily discern the location of your opponents, the direction from which a rival car is approaching, who’s walking on the floor above, and so on. The bass is deep, but the highs remain clear – so you hear not only the rumble of explosions but also other sounds, and the sense of space is maintained. The result is complete immersion.

The detachable microphone provides decent voice quality for a gaming lab. Speech is clear and intelligible, and the volume is low enough to avoid shouting into the microphone. However, there’s a risk of picking up extraneous sounds, such as keyboard clicks . This won’t be a big issue if you’re simply chatting with friends while gaming, but for streaming, a more professional recording device is recommended.

The built-in battery lasts up to 80 hours when connected via Bluetooth and up to 40 hours when connected via 2.4 GHz. This is a very respectable figure; in practice, you can expect two weeks of battery life if you play 3-4 hours daily. The headset can be fully charged in two hours, and you can continue using the device while charging. However, the USB cable is used only for power and does not transmit audio.

Conclusion

While the Red Square EONIX is a budget-friendly headphone, it delivers sound on par with mid-priced headphones. It handles gaming with ease, is suitable for music and movies , and also boasts a few additional features, such as simultaneous connection to two sources and a dedicated bass boost mode.

The model boasts good build quality, a decent microphone, and decent battery life. There are few noticeable drawbacks: some might miss a dedicated setup app, while others might be bothered by the emphasis on low frequencies.

Still, this is a very decent option for its class, and if you’re looking for wireless headphones under two thousand rubles, the Red Square EONIX is worth a closer look. However, this is just a recommendation; the final decision is ultimately yours.

Pros
  • Very decent sound for the budget segment
  • Good volume reserve
  • Not a bad microphone
  • Decent autonomy
  • Affordable price
Cons
  • There is no app for customization
  • Noticeable emphasis on low frequencies
