Resident Evil Requiem Guide: All Tough Enemies and Bosses

In this guide, we’ve compiled information about all the unique infected and bosses in Resident Evil Requiem, providing several tips and tricks for eliminating them quickly and effectively. With us, you’ll conserve precious ammo, avoid unnecessary deaths, and maintain a high pace throughout the game.

Special infected

Bubbleheads

Regular infected, even if you’ve killed them, can revive. An infected zombie you killed just a few minutes earlier may rise as a bubblehead as the story progresses. This enemy moves faster and, most importantly, is unpredictable, attacks at awkward angles, deals more damage, and can absorb more damage.

Tips for destruction:

  • You need to stop the mutation before it starts. Your goal is to crush the head or completely destroy the body, not just kill the infected by inflicting “enough” damage. There are several ways to do this!
  • If you’re playing as Grace, use the Hemolytic Injector . Sneak up behind an enemy, stun or knock them down, then inject the drug and let it do its work. They’ll literally be torn apart. There’ll also be a Chunk crawling around the corridors of the East Wing. Before you kill it (if you decide to), you can use it to take out any mutants . Just lure them into the corridor, make some noise, and the Chunk will do its job!
  • If you’re playing as Leon, decapitate enemies with his axe. Stun them, perform a spinning kick to slam them into a wall or other obstacle, then finish them off with the axe while they’re kneeling.
  • Heavy weapons. Some weapons in the game deal serious damage and are capable of literally blowing off enemies’ heads. Of course, the Requiem revolver remains the best, but its ammunition is extremely limited, so killing even bubbleheads with it should be done only in exceptional circumstances. Leon has access to rifles and shotguns, which are capable of “destroying the turrets” of infected.

Singers

Those same shriekers or screamers, familiar from previous games in the series. Their screams literally stun Grace, preventing her from aiming. Furthermore, their screams can rouse all nearby infected to their feet. As you approach the singer, you’ll hear her pitiful singing. Perhaps they sang better in their human form!

Tips for destruction:

  • As soon as you see a singer, consider her your priority target. Or lure the other zombies away from her. It wouldn’t hurt to waste a Requiem round on such an enemy. There are only a few singers in the game, and if you kill both of them in the medical center, you’ll earn the “Deadly Duet” achievement.
  • Don’t panic, don’t use up all your pistol ammo. Aim exclusively for the head, as this enemy has impressive durability (though not as good as the bubbleheads). You can also sneak up behind it and inject it with a hemolytic injector.

Chainsaw zombie (any zombie)

This isn’t the same chainsaw-wielding zombie you encountered earlier in Resident Evil 4. While an infected wielding a chainsaw can instantly finish off Leon, the enemy itself is quite weak. Furthermore, I haven’t seen the chainsaw picked up by the Bubbleheads. This means that only a common infected can wield one.

After killing him, the chainsaw will fall to the floor/ground, and even in this state, it will remain a threat to Leon for a while! The chainsaw-wielding enemy you just killed might even fly towards you.

Don’t approach the chainsaw while it’s spinning. Wait, and once it stops, you can pick it up and use it against zombies.

Another infected can also pick up the chainsaw, even while it’s spinning. Try to keep monsters away from the tool. Another infected can also stab another infected with a chainsaw, causing it to protrude from their stomach. If the infected with the chainsaw grabs Leon, he’ll die instantly.

Tips for destruction:

  • Keep your distance from the infected with a chainsaw. Corners, doorframes—anything that prevents the spinning chain from reaching you.
  • Once the enemy is defeated, don’t rush to the body. Watch the spinning saw and wait for it to stop.
  • Shoot the infected in the head and legs as they try to get close to the chainsaw!

Garm

Essentially, these are the same Cerberus, but much larger and more aggressive. Leon will encounter large packs of these dogs as he moves from East Raccoon City to the downtown police station. One episode even plays out like a rail shooter with a submachine gun. But overall, these aren’t particularly challenging opponents, especially since they only appear in one episode while riding a motorcycle .

Tips for destruction:

  • Shoot the nearest Garm. Ignore it, and the zombie dog will grab Leon.

Lizuns

Classic monsters, familiar from Resident Evil 2. They move along the floor, walls, and ceiling. They can’t see anything, and if they hear Grace, they’ll instantly jump on her. Their jump can be countered if you’re holding a knife (Grace) or an axe (Leon). Their tongue attack can be parried with Leon’s axe, and doing so will earn you the “Tongue Swallowed?” achievement.

Tips for destruction:

  • Stand still and force the slime to jump. Be prepared to counter its attack.
  • As Leon, keep your axe ready and wait for the enemy to stick out their tongue. Timing your parry is more important than damage. If you manage to parry, Leon will cut off the tongue and kill the Licker.

All RE9 bosses

Warning : Major spoilers for all story and optional bosses in Resident Evil Requiem follow . While the bosses are listed in chronological order of appearance, proceed with caution if you don’t want to know what awaits you near the end of Resident Evil Requiem.

Complete list of bosses

  • The Chef . He’s more of a special enemy than a boss. Killing him isn’t even necessary. However, if you finish him off as Grace, you’ll earn the “Well Done” achievement . You can leave that achievement for Leon, though. Either way, the Chef drops the Pantry Key, which opens the kitchen door.
  • Fat Chunk . You’ll encounter him while playing as Grace and Leon. The first encounter is optional, in the medical center; the second encounter is mandatory, in the medical center’s attic.
  • Bubbleborn . You’ll encounter him while playing as Leon. You’ll have to kill him. The first encounter is in the chapel near the Rhodes Hill Medical Center, and the second is in East Raccoon City.
  • The Girl . You’ll encounter her while playing as Grace. You’ll first avoid her in the medical center hallway, then in the basement beneath Rhodes Hill. Finally, you can get rid of her for good at the water treatment plant.
  • A giant spider . You’ll encounter it while playing as Leon. You’ll have to kill it in East Raccoon City.
  • Super Tyrant . You’ll encounter him while playing as Leon. You’ll have to kill him in downtown Raccoon City after escaping from the same enemy at the police station (fighting him at the station is useless).
  • Plant 43. You’ll encounter it while playing as Leon. You’ll have to kill it in the center of Raccoon City, behind the orphanage , on the way to the ARK complex.
  • Elite Squad Leader (Hank) . You’ll encounter him while playing as Leon. You’ll be required to kill him inside the ARK complex.
  • Victor Gideon. You’ll encounter him while playing as Leon, but only if you make the right decision regarding Elpis’s fate. You’ll be required to kill him inside the ARK complex.

How to beat the chef

Killing him isn’t necessary, but it’s worth it. One shot from the Requiem and a few rounds from a regular pistol will suffice. Alternatively, you can sneak up behind him and use the Hemolytic Injector.

How to defeat Fat Chunk

  • Where to meet: East Wing of Rhodes Hill Medical Center, Attic of Rhodes Hill Medical Center.
  • Characters: Grace and Leon

Fat Chunk is the game’s first “full-fledged” boss. These are separate encounters for Grace and Leon. For Grace, the fight against Fat Chunk is completely optional. You can head to the east wing, to the second floor, and down the hallway to the right to pick up a Level 1 ID Bracelet. Chunk moves slowly and can be killed with three uses of the Hemolytic Injector or a few shots from the Requiem. If you kill him as Grace, you’ll earn the “Grace and Goliath” achievement and the “Eye of the Keen” accessory . As long as it’s in Grace’s inventory, she can survive a fatal blow.

When you return to the medical center as Leon, you’ll need to go through the attic. There, you’ll encounter a fat man devouring a corpse. It’s worth noting that this is a different chunk than the one roaming the east wing of the medical center! This chunk is a must-kill! Before you begin the fight, be sure to pick up the MSBG 500 shotgun lying near the fat man. It deals deadly damage, and there are plenty of shotgun shells in the attic, easily collected by luring the chunk toward the destructible wooden supports.

How to defeat the Bubbleborn

  • Where found: Medical Center courtyard (chapel), East Raccoon City (sewage treatment plant).
  • Character: Leon.
  • Both times he needs to be killed.

The Bubbleborn is a massive monster completely covered in orange blisters. There are two such bosses in Resident Evil Requiem, but the first is considered the most dangerous since you encounter it for the first time. It’s slow, but capable of suddenly charging forward at unstoppable speed. Breaking any bubble can cause the blood to spill on an infected, causing them to mutate into a Bubblehead. This could be an infected you’ve previously killed, lying motionless on the ground.

To win, keep your distance and target only the blisters on the body. There’s one on the back, and three more in the abdomen and chest area. Each destroyed blister creates a bloody splash and mutates nearby enemies, so it’s important to act quickly. Use a shotgun, explosives, and throwing weapons to finish the boss off before the arena fills with mutants. Additionally, if you climb the stairs at the side of the chapel, you’ll find an explosive canister. There’s another one below.

How to defeat the Girl

  • Where found: Medical Center, Medical Center Basement, Water Treatment Plant.
  • Character: Grace.

Grace will encounter the Girl during her first visit to the medical center, but at this point, while the protagonist searches for the fuse, she should be avoided at all costs. Later, in the medical center’s basement, the situation will repeat itself—while you search for three connector plugs, the Girl will once again be incapable of being killed. A shot from the Requiem will stun her, but not kill her. However, for this first shot, you’ll earn the “Big Gun” achievement .

Once you reach the Water Treatment Plant beyond Rhodes Hill, the situation will change. You need to open the hatch and destroy the Girl by shining beams of light into the plant. To do this, you need to activate three power distribution units . After this, you can open the hatch and watch as the Girl literally melts before your eyes, turning into a bloody puddle of flesh and slime. Don’t shoot her at this point!

How to defeat a giant spider

  • Where found: East Raccoon City.
  • Character: Leon.

The Giant Spider is Leon’s first boss in East Raccoon City. It’s… a huge spider, and the fight takes place in the ruins of a building’s top floor. So, when it first appears, run away from the spider until you reach the right spot with the stairs to the second floor. The boss has several deadly attacks. It runs along the walls, periodically disappears from view, and summons smaller spiders that can be killed with shots from a regular pistol or blows from an axe.

Dodging is key in this fight. Keep your distance to avoid bites and claw attacks. Shoot the boss’s mouth to weaken it, lure it toward the red explosive barrels, and use Requiem to shoot the orange growth on its back. This will deal more damage!

How to defeat Supertyrant (Mr. X)

  • Location: Downtown Raccoon City, behind the police station.
  • Character: Leon.

Mr. X suddenly appears at the police station, but at this point you simply need to avoid him and focus on escaping the department. After leaving the police station, you’ll need to reach the orphanage, but the path will be blocked by the same Mr. X, now transformed into the Super Tyrant.

The Super Tyrant lunges at Leon, using its massive, clawed hand. If you press the spacebar at the right moment to counterattack with your axe, you’ll parry the enemy’s attack, temporarily stunning the boss, and allowing you to shoot its vulnerable heart in the chest. To defeat it, you need to focus all your damage on the heart. Sometimes the Super Tyrant approaches cars—during this, sprint back and forth, as it can hurl a car without warning, causing massive damage.

How to defeat Plant 43

  • Location: Raccoon City Center, behind the orphanage, on the way to the ARK.
  • Character: Leon.

After defeating the Supertyrant, Leon will pass through the orphanage and end up at Blackthorn Station. There, he will be attacked by Specimen 43 vines. At the very end of the dungeon , right at the entrance to the ARK, a full-scale battle with a giant plant will take place.

The boss’s only weakness is the gaping mouth of a huge flower. Shoot it when the bud opens. Watch out for the left and right shoots, which the enemy will slam into the ground. If the left shoot is wobbly, run to the right, and vice versa. After taking enough damage, red explosive barrels will fall—shoot them to end the battle.

How to defeat Elite Squad Leader Hank

  • Where found: ARK complex.
  • Character: Leon.

As Leon progresses through the ARK complex, he enters a corridor where he’ll be confronted by Commander Hank (or a copy of him). He’s an extremely brutal and skilled opponent, specializing in close combat. Armed with a knife and a hatchet, he engages Leon in a deadly melee duel .

Using firearms is useless: the commander effectively dodges all shots and ignores such damage, and when close, he can stun Leon. The only way to victory is mastering the axe parry. A successful parry stuns the enemy, allowing you to quickly counterattack. Repeat this until Leon plunges his axe into the commander’s neck.

For victory, Leon will receive the “Deadly Blade” – a new axe that is significantly more powerful than the standard one.

How to defeat Victor Gideon

  • Where encountered: In the ARK complex, if you choose “Liberate Elpis”.
  • Character: Leon.

Victor Gideon is the final boss of Resident Evil Requiem, but only for those players who choose the “Free Elpis” option during the final segment while controlling Grace. This is considered the “good” ending, and it unlocks the final battle.

Phase 1

In the first phase, Victor slowly approaches Leon using a huge tentacle. His attacks deal massive damage, but can be parried with his axe. He also uses electricity—watch for the glowing lines on the floor and move out of range quickly by moving left or right. Stay on the move and fire any weapon you have until the enemy is defeated.

Phase 2 – Nemesis

In the second phase, Victor will transform into a sort of Nemesis. Shoot the glowing red growths all over his body. After they’re destroyed, new blisters will appear closer to the floor—a single shot is enough to destroy them, so a regular pistol or throwing a hand grenade will do. Continue parrying the tentacles and shooting off the blisters until the battle ends.
