“Verso Sketches” is a brand new location in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, introduced with the thank-you update following the game’s triumph at The Game Awards 2025. The level is quite large, featuring many interesting challenges and minigames, as well as other content, among which, as always, the new Pictos stand out. In this guide, we’ll explain what these Pictos look like and how to obtain them.
Pictos “Extended Breakdown”
- Effect : Break lasts 1 turn longer, but the target cannot be broken again.
- How to get : I’m not sure exactly which enemy drops this pictos, but I managed to get it from the first group of enemies, near the “Open Playground” expedition flag. They were Machine Step and Sweetener.
Pictos “Double Third”
- Effect : Every third hit with the skill deals double damage.
- How to get : I’m not sure exactly which enemy drops this pictos, but I managed to get it from the first group of enemies, near the “Open Playground” expedition flag. They were Machine Step and Sweetener.
Pictos “Tonic of Healing for Salvation”
- Effect : When health falls below 50%, absorbs healing tonic.
- How to obtain : A Pictos drops upon killing the first Franktal-type enemy. For example, one can be found along with a Machine Stepper just down the slope from the “Open Playground” expedition flag and Slastenets and Machine Stepper standing near the cliff.
Pictos “Damage Distribution”
- Effect : 50% of damage taken is redistributed to other allies (if possible).
- How to obtain : The Pictos drops upon killing the first Unicorn-type enemy. For example, a Sweetener and two Unicorns can be found further down the slope from the “Open Playground” expedition flag.
Pictos “Feint”
- Effect : At the start of each turn, you have 4 levels of Sweetness, every 5th hit with the skill deals +600% damage.
- How to obtain : Head down the slope from the “Open Playground” expedition flag and you’ll soon reach a pond. A Chroma the Sweet-Toothed wanders to the right, and to the left is a large open gate leading to an area with a carousel. To the left of this carousel, look for a Gestral named Monsieur Frappe. Talk to him and call him a worm to begin the battle. He uses feint attacks, and to win this battle, you’ll have to parry three of his attacks in a row. It’s quite challenging, but you’ll soon learn when he might attack and be able to parry at the right moment.
Pictos “Alternating Critical Strike”
- Effect : If you score a critical hit, the next non-critical hit deals +100% damage.
- How to get it : Go past the carousel deeper into the area and find the “Sweetland” expedition flag. Then, on the main path, look for a jar on the side. Break it to reveal a secret path. At the end of it, find a pictos.
Pictos “Gradient Discharge”
- Effect : At the start of the turn, consume 3 Gradient Charges (if available) to deal +200% damage this turn.
- How to get it : Head down the slope from the “Open Playground” expedition flag and you’ll soon reach a pond. A Chroma the Sweet Tooth wanders to the right, but if you go past the pond and slightly to the right, you’ll find a bunch of cubes you can jump up. At the top, moving along the wooden beams, you can either go right to a Chroma the Unicorn or left to a platform with a lone item. This is the Pictos.
Pictos “Deduction of OD”
- Effect : Skills cost 1 AP less
- How to obtain : Head down the slope from the “Open Playground” expedition flag and you’ll soon reach a body of water. A Chroma the Sweet-Toothed wanders to the right, and further along in the same direction is a xylophone bridge. Cross it and look left. The Zhestral merchant Nayavla is here, and the path up the mountain leads to the main boss of the Oskjo region. You can buy this pictos from the merchant.
Pictos “Absorbing Attack”
- Effect : Basic attack absorbs up to 100 burns and deals +105 damage for each burn absorbed.
- How to obtain : Head down the slope from the “Open Playground” expedition flag and you’ll soon reach a body of water. A Chroma the Sweet-Toothed wanders to the right, and further along in the same direction is a xylophone bridge. Cross it and look left. The Zhestral merchant Nayavla is here, and the path up the mountain leads to the main boss of the Oskjo region. You can buy this pictos from the merchant.
Pictos “Gradient Parry”
- Effect : +5% to gradient charge when parrying.
- How to obtain : Continue from the Zhestral merchant past the Dreamwalker expedition flag up the slope and soon reach a large gingerbread door with eyes. Go past it, turn right, and you’ll find a large tree. Run around the circle to find the “5” tile and a new pictos.
Pictos “Enhanced Healer”
- Effect : Using a healing skill causes +50% damage for 1 turn.
- How to get it : Jump down from the previous “5” tile and turn right. From the edge of the cliff, jump across the planks, the remains of a wooden bridge, and you’ll soon find a new pictos and the “6” tile.
Pictos “Slow Attack”
- Effect : Basic attack applies slow for 1 turn.
- How to obtain : Go to the Zhestral Baths on the right side of the region to find several levels of pools. On the top level, you’ll find a Failure to Rescue, who will offer a challenge: recolor three Esquiers in the region. However, you’re not interested in him, but in the item lying in the pool behind the Failure to Rescue.
Pictos “Powered Jumps”
- Effect : Counterattacks deal +100% damage for each successful Jump Counterattack this turn.
- How to get it : You need to successfully complete the swing and gestalt minigame in the lower pool (one level below the life preservers you jump into from the diving board). Jump just as your half of the swing is moving upward to gain maximum height. Repeat this three times in a row.
Pictos “Daredevil”
- Effect : After firing 10 shots in one turn, you gain +2 AP (one-time use). All subsequent shots this turn deal +200% damage.
- How to obtain : In the same lower pool of the Jestral Baths, look for a Jestral with balloons. Shoot all the balloons, then talk to him, and the battle will begin. You need to keep shooting the rising balloons during the battle. This is the only way to damage the enemy. The Jestral itself doesn’t attack you, but it heals at the end of its turn. So, you need to be extremely precise.
Piktos “Fury”
- Effect : Each subsequent hit with the skill deals +10% damage.
- How to obtain : Find the optional boss, Unistep, located behind the talking gingerbread door at the Unistep station. To get through the door, you’ll need to collect three pieces of cake to create a full birthday cake and deliver it to the talking door.
