After a long stay in the Qinghe region, the beginning of Where Winds Meet can feel very cozy and even bucolic. While there are plenty of scammers, the place overall feels calm and relaxed.
Everything changes when you enter the Kaifeng region, and especially the vast city of Kaifeng at its center. Here, you’ll find a wealth of new activities, but also a plethora of rogues within the lost chapter “Streetwise.”
How to Start Street Sage
Once you reach Kaifeng City and gain freedom of movement, a variety of quests will become available. The lost chapter “Street Sage” is immediately accessible and is located near your initial entry point into the city.
Simply head east, along the path to the Hall of Dreams, and you’ll find yourself in a large entertainment district called the Fairgrounds . At its very center is a huge, illuminated Dragon Station.
Climbing to the top of this statue will net you some nice loot and also earn you an achievement for reaching the highest point in the region .
Upon entering this area, the lost chapter “Street Sage” immediately activates : your character will suggest finding Xue Chou and learning martial arts from him. Luckily, he’s right nearby, leaning against a column just north of your entrance.
Breaking into a courier station
After a short conversation, Xue Chou, who doesn’t seem particularly pleased with the attention, gives you a quest, promising training in exchange. You must steal items from Khitan warriors at Huai Xin Outpost . However, this is easier said than done.
The problem isn’t just that you don’t know exactly where the items you need are, but that you’ll have to complete the entire mission stealthily . If you’re discovered even once, you’ll be thrown out of the area, forcing you to start the infiltration all over again.
The situation is further complicated by the fact that enemies here don’t have vision beams visible through Wind Sense , like in skill-stealing dungeons. Therefore, it’s best to stay on the rooftops whenever possible, and if you have to go to the ground, stick to areas where you’re guaranteed to be hidden.
Eavesdropping Point No. 1

Since you don’t know where the necessary items are, you’ll have to eavesdrop on the locals . Quest markers will indicate their location, but it’s best to find a safe position first.
You can’t run or double jump inside the guarded area. Outside, you can. So, walk along the eastern wall outside before entering the area to climb the taller building inside the perimeter. This will make things easier.
Once on this roof, you’ll see that many of the neighboring buildings have “Cloud Step” points you can instantly teleport to. This will make it easy to stay high.
From here, simply reach the objective marker and eavesdrop on the warriors below. This will indicate the next eavesdropping target.
Eavesdropping Point No. 2

The next eavesdropping target is literally around the corner, but inside a fairly central building, so you’ll have to drop to the ground. There are several guards patrolling here , so only drop down when they’re far away.
Go into the garden in front of you and hide in the bushes near the open window . From here, you’ll be able to eavesdrop on your target while remaining safely out of sight of the patrol.
These nobles will mention that important goods are stored somewhere in the backyard . This seems like the next logical place to search and leads to our final eavesdropping target.
Eavesdropping Point No. 3

Since you’re now on the ground, let’s do the same as at the beginning: go outside the outpost to regain jumping ability and climb onto the roof outside. Head east again and jump over the wall, then follow it north until you find a building tall enough to jump onto near the next objective.
This is the building you need to get into to get the items, but first you need to eavesdrop on something.
From the edge of the roof, you’ll be able to overhear your final target, A’gunah. He’ll mention the bitter cold in the main hall, prompting your character to deduce that there must be an opening somewhere in the roof . Turn around, and indeed, you’ll find a passage leading to the rafters inside the building.
Theft of items

Once inside, you’ll need to steal several items, but first you’ll need to eavesdrop on each of the guards . After that, you’ll need to retrieve the items from above. How do you do that? Use the mystical skill “Heavenly Palm . “
The three items you need to pick up are the Compass, the Embroidered Scarf, and the Suspicious Chest of Letters . Don’t worry about being spotted. There’s no chance of being spotted here until you fall down.
Once you have collected all three items, leave the outpost and meet with Xue Chou.
Chasing the thief

However, as soon as you exit, you’ll be spotted by a thief who quickly snatches your items and disappears . Now your task is to catch up with him, although in reality, it’s more of a staged scene where you just need to press the right buttons at the right time.
Everything happens in real time, so be prepared for possible performance drops .
Simply hold forward to keep running and follow the on-screen prompts . You don’t need to jump or turn yourself. At a certain point, you’ll start climbing the lanterns on the dragon statue in the Fairgrounds, at which point you’ll need to use Cloud Step yourself .
Once you catch the thief, you’ll find yourself on a wall on the outskirts of Kaifeng City. Here, you’ll have to fight him to recover the stolen goods . Fortunately, he doesn’t pose a serious threat: after a few parries that drain his chi, a single execution will be enough to take down most of his health.
After this, Xue Chou will appear again. It turns out this whole thing was a test —from infiltrating the Khitan outpost to chasing down this “thief.” Of course, you’ll force him to admit he really did need the items, but it also served as a test of your skills.
In addition to the usual rewards, you’ll also unlock the Inner Path of “Evasive Charge .” This completes the lost chapter “Streetwise.”
