Void Essences are one of the magical items in Hytale , essential for crafting and other purposes. These clumps of ominous purple energy are quite common, but only drop from certain enemy types. Collecting a lot of Void Essences isn’t difficult, but if you frequently skip sleep, you’ll miss out on a lot of farming opportunities.
To obtain a Void Essence in Hytale, you need to be prepared for battle: equip your armor, grab healing potions, and be ready to fight all night.
Where to find the Void Essence in Hytale
Abyssal Essence drops from killing Abyssal creatures that appear at night . These are most often dissected, ghoul-like monsters that attack in melee with claws. Less commonly, you can encounter large Abyssal creatures reminiscent of the Watchers from Dungeons & Dragons —floating, tentacled eye-like monsters that fire projectiles. When venturing to the surface at night, be sure to bring a bow (preferably iron-level or higher).
All Abyssal creatures drop varying amounts of Abyssal Essence upon death . Large eye monsters also have a chance to drop Abyssal Hearts, which are used to craft mithril gear. If you’re just starting out, crafting mithril gear is still a long way off, but stocking up on Abyssal Hearts is a good idea.
Abyssal monsters only spawn on the surface , so it’s not recommended to go underground to hunt them. Fortunately, the chance of their appearance is quite high, and they can be found almost anywhere. After defeating one group, move on to another area to find more enemies.
Iron crossbows are excellent for dealing high damage. We recommend picking one up and using it in conjunction with a regular bow to quickly dispatch enemies with high health.
What is the purpose of the Abyss Essence?
Currently, Abyssal Essence is primarily used to craft Mithril Armor , the highest-tier gear available in the game’s Early Access. Essences are only required to craft armor pieces; Mithril weapons require Abyssal Hearts, and tools require only Mithril Ingots and Storm Leather.
