Equipment and assembly

The chair comes in a generously sized, almost cubical, unpainted cardboard box, printed with the brand logo and a schematic diagram of the assembled chair in simple black. However, you’ll have to assemble it yourself, as it’s unassembled in the box.

All chair components are additionally packaged in individual bags, foam, or cardboard, and tightly packed inside to prevent damage from impact. The kit includes a seat with a footrest , a mechanism for securing and adjusting the chair, two backrest sections, a headrest, armrests, a gas lift, a two-piece five-star base, five polyurethane wheels, and a set of Allen keys—the only tool needed for assembly.

Despite the rather unassuming packaging, FoxGear clearly aims for the premium class – the materials are very high-quality, the assembly and adjustment instructions are printed on excellent paper, the fasteners are packaged in a blister pack with compartments for each type of component and a cardboard insert with labels, and on top of all this, the kit includes white fabric gloves to prevent fingerprints from staining the chair.

The assembly process is quite simple thanks to the detailed instructions and the excellent fit of the parts. The instructions recommend first assembling the backrest, which consists of a frame with a lumbar support mechanism and a “cushion” for the rest of the back, which is screwed to the frame with two screws covered by special plugs (also included).

Next, you need to attach the rocking mechanism to the seat with four screws, then connect the seat to the backrest and install the armrests. After that, the instructions recommend assembling the base. It’s a five-spoke base, but it’s two-piece—one of the spokes is screwed in place. Next, you insert the wheels and gas lift.

Finally, the assembled chair is installed on the gas lift, and the headrest is inserted into a special groove on the backrest. However, this assembly sequence isn’t the most logical—for example, I would have found it easier to assemble the base first and then screw the backrest onto the seat once it’s installed, but that’s a matter of personal preference.

Ideally, it’s best to assemble the chair with two people—many of the components are quite heavy and not ideal for hanging, but I managed it all by myself . As an added bonus, I received a laptop tray —it also came in a cardboard box. To assemble it and install it on the chair, simply connect the two parts and slide the resulting structure onto the armrests, after you’re seated, of course.

Impressions of use

FoxGear NETZ Model X Ergonomic Chair

The FoxGear NETZ X isn’t marketed as a gaming chair, but thanks to its comfortable fit and extensive adjustment options, it provides an equally, if not more, comfortable gaming experience. Frankly, the “gaming” designation is a combination of design elements and marketing hype , and your back doesn’t care whether your chair boasts flashy looks and RGB lighting.

The design here is quite strict. The chair is officially considered an office chair and is available in two colors: black and gray. We got the former, but both color options feature a bright accent in the form of orange lumbar support elements, and the base is glossy silver. Thanks to the mesh backrest and headrest, a trendy addition to office furniture, the chair feels quite compact and elegant.

At the same time, functionality is not compromised – the high-quality Korea Filo mesh maintains its elasticity and supports your back as well as a full-filled pillow , and it’s also highly breathable and breathable, a welcome bonus in hot weather. The structure of the backrest elements allows for adjustable support, conforming to the natural S-shape of the spine.

As you change your position, the lumbar support block springs slightly, ensuring optimal weight distribution. It’s also manually adjustable for height, depth, and tension. Furthermore, the backrest reclines to an angle of up to 136 degrees, allowing you to adopt a semi-reclining position. While it’s not fully flat like some gaming chairs, combined with the footrest that extends from under the seat, it’s incredibly relaxing—I even fell asleep once.

The stand consists of two small pads on a flat bar—it bends slightly, but provides adequate support. It’s long enough for almost any height—at my height of 185 cm, with the stand fully extended, the pads ended just above my heels. My feet were slightly dangling, but not strained.

The seat itself is medium-firm, with cotton upholstery. The cushion is molded, but without any protruding, or therefore restricting, elements—just enough to ensure an ergonomically correct posture without making the seating position cramped, regardless of body size. The high-quality Class 4 gas lift can support up to 136 kg. I’m only 90, but I found the seating comfortable, and my buttocks didn’t swell even during long periods of work or play.

The casters, which to the average person might seem like a minor detail, deserve special mention here. They’re completely silent and offer a smooth ride, and they don’t scratch the floor. This was especially noticeable in contrast to my old chair—the casters would literally creak there, and I only use it on a special clear mat

The armrests are adjustable for height and reach, and rotate inward and outward through a 20-degree range. They feature soft polyurethane padding on top, not the hard plastic found in cheaper chairs , ensuring maximum arm comfort. The headrest is adjustable for height, reach, and tilt, helping to reduce strain on the cervical spine.

The chair’s adjustment elements are mostly standard: a round knob adjusting the backrest tilt force, two levers located on the rocker mechanism, one of which adjusts the seat depth, the other its height, and, when extended, the backrest angle. Additionally, the lumbar support unit features a solid round knob for adjusting its firmness.

The table transforms the chair into a personal pod for work, relaxation, and entertainment, a feature appreciated by many residents of small apartments where every square meter counts. It features an adjustable laptop stand, slotted holders for smartphones and tablets , a small leather-trimmed mousepad , and a cup holder.

You can work reclining with a glass of coffee, pour yourself a frothy one, and watch your favorite movie , or even play games—my gaming laptop fits comfortably on the stand. The inexpensive plastic of the table clashes somewhat with the more premium materials of the chair, but there are no complaints about the build quality or functionality.

Verdict

FoxGear NETZ Model X Ergonomic Chair

The FoxGear NETZ Model X is a superb and completely versatile chair for those who prioritize comfort and back health over “gaming” fanfare. Thanks to its comfortable seating position, abundant adjustments, and convenient footrest, it’s ideal for both freelance crunches and long gaming sessions, allowing you to rest and relax with minimal interruption.

It’s also worth noting the exceptionally high quality of workmanship and the excellent wheels, which don’t rattle, ensuring the safety of your flooring. The addition of a table allows the chair to become a sort of “cocoon” for comfortable play, work, and relaxation, all while taking up minimal space.

The chair has no drawbacks – it lacks premium features like massage and heating, but those are reserved for more expensive models. While it’s certainly not the most affordable, the price is in line with other similar models, and the extra comfort is certainly worth it. Ultimately, the decision is yours.
