Essences are special items in Arknights Endfield that enhance your Operators. They are equippable modules that improve the stats of characters’ weapons and increase the level of their unique skills. Using an essence is like obtaining an additional copy of a weapon, making these items extremely valuable for all players.
How to get essences in Arknights Endfield

Essences can be obtained by clearing Energy Alluvium anomalies . Enemies spawning in these zones have a chance to drop essences. However, increasing your research level will unlock access to Harsh Energy Alluvium anomalies . Spending Sanity points to clear these zones guarantees the acquisition of high-rarity essences. This system is essentially similar to the standard relic or artifact collection system in other gacha games.
The main difference between essences and regular equipment is that they don’t provide direct bonuses to basic stats like attack or critical chance. Instead, they enhance weapon perks, including their unique traits .
Pre-engraving of characteristics

Essences drop with random perks, but you can partially control this process using the “Pre-Engraving” feature . To do this, interact with any “Harsh Energy Alluvium” anomaly and press the “Pre-Engraving” button above the “Start” button in the lower right corner of the screen.
A window will open where you can select three different attributes and one secondary or skill perk . Any essence obtained after completing the zone is guaranteed to have one of the three selected attributes, the selected secondary or skill perk, and one completely random perk.
How do essences work in Endfield?

Equipping an essence increases the level of a weapon’s perks by a fixed amount . This is similar to upgrading a weapon’s potential, but with the difference that you can boost all three perks simultaneously.
To equip an essence:
- Open the character screen and select the Operator.
- Go to the “Weapons” tab.
- Click the Essence button next to the Potential button.
- Select the essence you want to equip.
You’ll notice that essences have various perks, such as Attack Boost, Magic Damage Boost, Flow, Twilight, and others. When equipped, all essence perks are transferred to the Operator’s weapon, increasing the corresponding stats by the specified amount. Important: essences do not add new perks to a weapon; they only enhance existing ones.
Ideally, an essence should boost all available perks on your weapon, but there are exceptions. You’ll have to evaluate for yourself whether one essence is worth choosing over another based on their respective stats.
