The first area players explore in Nioh 3 is the Warring States Zone. It’s full of secrets, including a hidden boss that only unlocks after meeting specific conditions. Don’t attack it immediately after unlocking it, as you may not be at the right level. Here’s where to find the secret boss in the Warring States Zone in Nioh 3 .
This article contains spoilers for upcoming quests and bosses in Nioh 3.
Nioh 3 Secret Boss Location
The secret boss is the Demon of Pride. To access it, you must first visit the Heian period and complete a specific quest there.

After completing the quest and unlocking the Kurama Tengu Guardian Spirit, return to the Warring States Period and teleport to Sengan Falls Shrine southeast of Ryotan Temple .

On the map, the Demon of Pride is marked by a golden box. Approach this mark and use the spirit veins between the rocks to fly higher. Follow Kunimatsu’s shadow closer to the waterfalls to summon the Demon of Pride. This boss has blue wings and a long, feathery tail, reminiscent of a peacock, which is unsurprising for such a proud creature.

Defeating the Demon of Pride will be a serious challenge. The boss primarily uses long-range attacks that deal high water damage. Occasionally, he’ll move in close to attack with his weapon or stomp his foot.
It’s recommended to use Ninja Style to utilize the three Ninjutsu slots for long-range projectiles. You can also increase your Magic stat to unlock more Yin slots in the Soul Core section of the Shrine. This will allow you to equip multiple Onmyo Magic items to weaken the boss, buff yourself, or provide additional healing.
Useful skills for samurai include “Unyielding Spirit” (increases Ki recovery when HP is below 30%), “Recovery,” and “Unwavering .” For ninjas, “Excellent Shift” allows you to move behind the boss after successfully breaking the meter if you switch to Ninja Style. Also effective are “Evasion” and the “Snake Bite” technique , which increases damage with consecutive attacks. Don’t forget about your equipment: look for items that provide water resistance to conserve defensive talismans.

Defeating the Demon of Pride will reward you with a large amount of Amarita, equipment, and unlock the transformable art “Death from Heavenly Water .” Interact with the ghost to trigger a cutscene revealing Kunimatsu’s deeper feelings for your character.
How to obtain the Kurama Tengu Guardian Spirit
