A detailed guide to completing the side quest “Slugs in a Shell,” given by bar owner John Brown before the main mission “Gurgles from the Deep.” We’ll explain how to start the quest and find the jar of sea slugs.
Bartender John Brown continues to take advantage of Jack Pepper’s helpfulness and assigns him the next side quest in the Mouse: PI For Hire walkthrough. Once again, he needs to find ingredients for a new bar recipe. The search will take him to the Cove.

This optional objective can be taken before starting the “Gurgles from the Depths” quest. It’s also completed in the first few locations, so don’t miss out on completing it before the mission ends.
How to start the quest “Slugs in a Shell”
Once the information for the main quest “Gurgles from the Deep” appears on the screen, an icon of John Brown should appear on the radar at the top, and he has a new task for you.
This main mission includes two side missions! So make sure you have this one and the other one, “Friends in the Deep,” active.
Before heading out on your trip to Cove Bay, stop by the good old Little & Big bar and talk to bartender John Brown.
This is the third time he’s asked you to procure a certain exclusive ingredient to create a new dish. This time, he promises the end result will be worth the effort. We’re sure you’ll believe it, Johnny!
Once the additional task has been added to your journal task list and appears on your screen, get in your car and drive to Blowing Bay.
How to complete the “Slugs in a Shell” quest
As you progress through the main quest, you’ll encounter an old acquaintance, Tammy Stopka. Talk to her, and she’ll tell you about your next main task: collecting the necessary parts to craft a deep-sea diving suit. After this conversation, jump into the teleportation tube located in the same area.
Don’t progress the main quest until you have to dive underwater. If you do, you won’t be able to complete the side mission.
The pipe will transport you back to the same seaside arena where you just destroyed numerous enemies. Notice the truck parked near the huge main gate. To the right of it is a cargo container perched on the ledge of a pier extending into the water .
Look inside the shipping container and you’ll find the ingredient you’re looking for! A jar of sea slugs for John. Continue with the main quest, then return to the private investigator’s office . Also, make sure you’ve completed the “Friends in the Deep” side quest.
Reward
Return to the detective’s office, give John his slugs. Go to the Little & Big bar and give him the ingredient for the new dish. To everyone’s surprise, John offers Jack a taste of his new dish, and it turns out to be truly delicious.
Moreover, John will give you one more token for the prize machine. If you collect 20 tokens (no more is needed), you can open the prize cabinet in the corner of the bar. This will give you the secret weapon “RazMishator X1.” This is the only weapon that won’t be unlocked automatically.
