Equipment and design

The Acer Nitro V 15 comes in a clear cardboard box with the Nitro gaming series name printed in the company’s signature font. The laptop is secured with pressed cardboard spacers and individually wrapped. A separate compartment houses the 135W power supply

The laptop’s case is made of black plastic. The brand logo and multicolored lines on the lid emphasize the model’s gaming appeal. To open the lid, you’ll need to hold the bottom half of the case with your other hand.

The base of the device features massive rubber feet, preventing the laptop from sliding around on the desk . The ventilation slots clearly reveal the copper heatsink tubes covering the hot components and a pair of fans. The speakers are located on the chamfered edges of the bottom of the case, positioned so that sound bounces off the desk surface.

Connectivity is distributed along the sides of the device. On the left side are a DC-in power connector, an RJ-45 network port, an HDMI 2.1 port, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, and one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port. On the opposite side are LED indicators, a 3.5 mm combo jack, a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, and a Kensington lock .

In addition, there are cutouts on the right and rear ends through which the radiator grilles are visible, which serve to expel hot air outside the case.

The Acer Nitro V 15’s display is framed by fairly narrow bezels. The top bezel houses the webcam and a pair of microphones. The bottom bezel houses the brand logo.

The laptop’s work surface contains the keyboard and touchpad. The keyboard is full-size, with a numpad. Almost all the keys are normal-sized, except for the top row. The power button is located in the upper right corner of the keyboard, flush with the rest of the keys. However, even if you accidentally press it, nothing will happen, as you must hold the key down to turn off the laptop.

The keys have a short travel distance and a pleasant feedback. The Acer Nitro V 15 is suitable not only for gaming but also for text editing. The single- color orange backlighting allows for easy work even in the dark. Both Latin and Cyrillic characters are backlit. The touchpad is quite large, has two physical keys, supports gestures, and responds to commands without delay.

The laptop is compact but heavy—over two kilograms, plus the rather bulky power supply. This is normal for a gaming device, but it’s important to remember that you shouldn’t expect the Acer Nitro V 15 to have the portability of office models.

Display and sound

Acer Nitro V 15

The laptop features a 15.6-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a 165Hz refresh rate, and a standard 16:9 aspect ratio—an excellent combination for a gaming laptop. The display’s brightness is 300 nits, making it comfortable for gaming and working indoors, but in bright sunlight, you’ll want to seek shade.

The display calibration isn’t professional, but it does provide a fairly realistic color gamut. Considering the laptop isn’t marketed as a solution for color and graphics work , this is normal and not a drawback. However, gamers will likely appreciate the high refresh rate and fast response time, which will definitely translate into the device’s responsiveness when playing online shooters and other titles that require quick reactions.

A pair of built-in speakers handles audio. While it’s not a gimmick, like any other laptop without a focus on specialized audio features, the audio system is still sufficient for listening to music in the background or watching a movie , not to mention making calls with gaming partners and co-workers. Incidentally, unique AI features are used for calls: Acer PurifiedView improves video conferencing quality, automatically crops and blurs backgrounds, while Acer PurifiedVoice suppresses background noise and improves voice quality.

Performance

Acer Nitro V 15

The Acer Nitro V 15 is equipped with a ten-core Intel Core i7-13620H processor , which includes six performance cores and four efficiency cores, and can be overclocked to 4.8 GHz. This is a highly efficient processor that can handle both gaming and productivity tasks with ease. Overall, it’s a perfect choice for the modern user.

Integrated Intel Graphics handles image rendering in light-load scenarios, while the discrete NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 8GB graphics card for laptops handles 3D graphics processing in games.

The graphics adapter performs well in games at 1080p resolution, supports the latest version of DLSS , and allows you to enable ray tracing while still achieving a comfortable frame rate – if you don’t crank all the settings sliders to the right, you can get 60 fps or more in almost any current AAA title, not to mention undemanding online games.

This setup is complemented by a 1 TB Kingston SSD, which uses an NVMe PCIe 4.0 x4 interface, delivering decent read and write speeds. In practice, this means the OS, applications, and games load very quickly, and the system runs smoothly, without any lag or stuttering.

It uses 16 GB of DDR4 3200 MHz RAM , installed in a single stick, meaning it operates in single-channel mode. This is an upgrade option: the manufacturer includes the ability to add another 16 GB stick for a total of 32 GB of RAM. However, if you don’t need that much memory, you can leave it as is.

However, gaming tests show that the device is suitable for all modern games. We obtained the following results:

  • Silent Hill f , high settings – 28 fps
  • Silent Hill f, high settings, DLSS balance – 55 fps
  • Silent Hill f, medium settings – 35 fps
  • Silent Hill f, medium settings, DLSS balance – 68 fps

  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 , maximum settings – 32 fps
  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, max settings, DLSS quality – 45 fps
  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, max settings, DLSS quality, frame rate 122 fps
  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, medium settings – 45 fps
  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, medium settings, DLSS quality – 58 fps
  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Medium settings, DLSS quality, 147 fps frame rate
  • Assassin’s Creed Mirage , maximum settings – 53 fps
  • Assassin’s Creed Mirage, High settings – 73 fps
  • Cyberpunk 2077 , max settings, ray tracing, path tracing – 13 fps
  • Cyberpunk 2077, max settings, ray tracing, path tracing, DLSS quality, 2X frame rate – 48 fps
  • Cyberpunk 2077, max settings, ray tracing, path tracing, DLSS quality, 4X frame rate – 88 fps
  • Cyberpunk 2077, max settings, ray tracing, DLSS auto – 60 fps

The cooling system installed in this model isn’t quiet, but it’s effective. Temperatures during games don’t exceed 85 degrees Celsius, which is very good for a laptop. The noise level is tolerable; after all, all gaming laptops make some noise.

Acer Nitro V 15

The laptop has a standard set of wireless interfaces: Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1. A gigabit Ethernet port is also included for wired internet. Connections to wireless devices are stable, with no interruptions or data loss.

The model runs Windows 11 Home. Its proprietary software includes the NitroSense app, which allows you to monitor the laptop’s component load, select a performance mode (everyday, gaming, or quiet), adjust fan speed, configure battery charging settings, test the battery, RAM, and storage, and use AI features.

Autonomy

Acer Nitro V 15

Gaming laptops typically don’t boast long battery life. The Acer Nitro V 15 doesn’t offer any surprises here, but it delivers 4-5 hours of battery life when browsing, messaging, and watching videos. With demanding games, this time drops to 2-3 hours.

Charging is done using the included power adapter and a proprietary DC-in port; USB-C charging is not supported. A full charge takes approximately one and a half to two hours.

Conclusion

Acer Nitro V 15

The Acer Nitro V 15 is a very interesting gaming solution, but to squeeze the maximum potential out of the model, upgrading it—buying another RAM module—can be quite expensive now, given the current component shortage.

On the other hand, it features a powerful processor, and a discrete graphics card that delivers comfortable frame rates in modern games. Additionally, the model features a good display, a full-size backlit keyboard , and an effective cooling system. Furthermore, you’ll get a decent selection of ports for connecting peripherals and outputting to an external display (including via USB-C).

Ultimately, it’s a decent option for work and play, worthy of consideration. However, as always, we leave the decision to you.

Pros
  • Clean design with gaming DNA
  • Current discrete graphics card
  • Fast SSD drive
  • Backlit keyboard
  • Good display
  • Enough ports to connect peripherals
Cons
  • Average autonomy
  • Single-channel RAM
