The quest itself consists of a minimal number of objectives, but completing them is quite challenging. Here are each step you need to complete as part of the “Place of Rest” quest:
- Find an abandoned camp on the highway.
- Find out if there are any survivors.
- Follow the red marks.
- Examine the grave.
These targets are fairly straightforward, but both the abandoned campsite on the highway and the red flags are difficult to spot. If you’re having trouble finding them, you’ll find all the information you need below.
Find an abandoned campsite on the highway
The Abandoned Highway Camp is a location in the southwestern part of the Buried City map. The main problem with finding the Abandoned Highway Camp is that it’s located above the highway, meaning it’s at the top, and it may seem like there’s no access to the highway at the designated point.
But to the left of the highway, there’s a zipline you can use to get there. To reach the device, place a marker in the same spot on the map as in our screenshot above and walk up to it at ground level. If you see images, aim for the bushes just below the word “Destroyed” on the map. You should see the zipline there.
Simply approach the zipline and use it to ascend. Once you reach the upper level, directly onto the highway, head left toward the abandoned vans you’ll see on the bridge, and you’ll soon be able to complete your first objective.
Find out if there are any survivors
As you head north from the zipline and approach two broken-down vans on either side of the bridge, you’ll immediately notice that the area is abandoned and there are no survivors. However, there’s a small backpack lying next to the abandoned bus to the right of the bridge .
Interact with the backpack to receive the next objective: follow the red markers to a specific point. This is perhaps the biggest challenge in completing this quest.
Follow the red marks
If you look at the blue car north of the backpack, you’ll see a small pole with a dark red cloth tied to it. This is the first red marker. There are quite a few of these red flags, and they lead along the entire ruined highway, down through the sand-swept city, all the way to the ruins of buildings in the “Buried Buildings” area.
All of these red markers are located relatively close to each other, so if no one’s in your way, you should be able to follow them without much trouble. However, if there are enemies in your way, you might have to take cover and lose track of the red flags. If this happens, don’t worry. Simply head to the small square building northeast of Arbusto’s Pizzeria , and you’ll reach your next objective.
Inspect the grave
Upon entering, the location name “Buried Buildings” should appear on the screen, letting you know you’ve arrived. Explore the ruins of several buildings in the center of the objective zone, looking for another red flag with a helmet on top. This is the survivors’ final resting place.
After interacting with the final resting place, the mission will be complete. You can then return to Speranza by any means necessary—either successfully evacuate or even die, as you won’t have to carry any loot back to base.
Upon completing the “Place of Rest” quest, you’ll receive 3 Noisemakers, 5 Blue Glow Lanterns, 1 Rosary (a trinket that can be sold), and “Safety Goggles” (an outfit). Blue Glow Lanterns can be used to illuminate the area, while Noisemakers are essentially area scanners that emit a special sound whenever someone moves past. For example, Noisemakers can be used to ambush other raiders.
