Are you running around in circles looking for the tripods you need to install scanners and laser locators on as part of the “Eyes on the Sky” quest in Arc Raiders? Sounds familiar! To save you from spending up to an hour searching and risking losing all your gear, we’ve prepared a guide to this story mission. In this article, you’ll find step-by-step instructions on how to reach all three tripods on each map in the game world, as well as how to unlock these maps and what gear you might need to get to the right spots.
All three tripods are located in hard-to-reach places. Luckily, those in the Buried City and the Spaceport are fairly easy to reach. However, the tripod in the Dam Battlefield is much more challenging to find. Wasps, hornets, and marauding raiders are all standard obstacles to reaching your goal. But there are other challenges, too, which we’ll discuss below.
This quest has only three main steps; the hardest part is finding the radar installation locations. Here’s everything you need to do to complete the “Looking to the Skies” quest:
- Place a laser locator on the roof of the control tower on the dam battlefield.
- Install a laser locator in the spaceport control tower.
- Place a laser locator over the gallery sign in the Buried City.
Now that you have specific objectives, you’re ready to begin the mission. It’s easiest to complete this mission in the order described above, so head to the Dam Battlefield first. This is also the most difficult laser locator to deploy, so we’ll deploy it as early as possible.
Install a laser locator on the roof of the control tower at the Dam Battlefield.
The laser locator on the Dam Battlefield, or rather the tripod it needs to be mounted on, is located right at the top of the control tower in the southern part of the map. This building is located between the Water Purifier Control Room and the Testing Room. Head there immediately after spawning on the map and use the front door.
Once inside, take the hallway on the left and pass the door to the dam staff room. Turn right and continue down until you find a hackable door . Use the Raider Tool, enter, and zipline up to reach the top of the building.
There may be several turrets inside the elevator shaft, which are worth destroying before heading up. The zipline also leaves you vulnerable, so marauding raiders are often hiding here. You might be lucky and easily slip past the turrets and raiders, so it’s up to you to decide whether it’s worth the risk.
Once you reach the roof, head to its eastern corner, where you’ll find a small tripod. Interact with it to deploy your first laser locator, then return to base by any means necessary. You can even die or “surrender.”
Install a laser locator in the spaceport control tower
The second tripod you need to install the laser locator on is located in the spaceport. This is the third location you unlock through account progression, and access to it will only be available after completing 12 missions (not necessarily successful ones). Since “Looking to the Skies” is an early quest , you may not have access to the spaceport yet. If so, just keep playing. You can see the number of matches you’ve played on the map right under the location’s name. If you haven’t unlocked the spaceport yet, you can work on any other mission, such as “From the Shadows.”
After landing on the Surface a total of 12 times, you’ll be ready for the next stage of your adventure. First, head straight to the spaceport and head to the control tower. It’s hard to spot, and don’t confuse the regular control tower, which is the one you’re looking for, with the A6 control tower. Look for the control tower on the right side of the map, next to the “Container Storage” building.
Once you reach the tower, simply climb over the fence and up the ladder attached to the side of the large metal structure. Just above you, another tripod awaits. Set up the laser locator and return to base to head to your final destination.

The final tripod you need to install the laser locator on is located in the Buried City. This is the second location you’ll unlock chronologically as you progress through Arc Raiders. To access this area, you must complete the first three missions, which you’re already guaranteed to have done, as otherwise you won’t be able to complete the “Eyes on the Sky” quest. However, before heading to the Buried City, be sure to grab the zipline. It’s a crucial tool for the third part of the quest, so stash it in the same hidden pocket before you set out to avoid losing it if you perish in the sand-swept city.
Once in the Buried City, head to the Gallery—the building located between the Spaceport facility and the outskirts. Climb to the roof and go to the southeast corner to find a structure similar to the one in the Spaceport. There are no stairs here, so this is where the zipline comes in handy. Aim it at the small circular path at the top of the structure and shoot. Afterward, climb up the zipline to the final tripod. Now it’s time to return to base and collect your rewards!
Rewards for the quest “Looking to the Sky”
For completing the “Eyes on the Skies” quest, you’ll receive 3 Marker Grenades, 1 Zipline (which you’ll receive right away), 1 Epic Vitamin Spray, and 5 Yellow Glow Lanterns. These are very useful items, especially the Vitamin Spray. Since this is an early quest, you’re probably still using simple bandages as your primary healing tool. However, the Vitamin Spray restores more health over time, which will undoubtedly be a much more useful solution in emergency situations.
