How to Find All Bakumatsu Scampuses in Nioh 3

Nioh 3 has a ton of collectibles hidden throughout its newly discovered environments, but the most charming of them are undoubtedly the friendly spirits that grant bonuses for finding them.

For cat lovers, the best of the three spirits are the Scampuses, who returned from Nioh 2. However, they have undergone some changes in the third game.

What do Scampuses do and how to find them

Scampuses are round, cat-like spirits that can be found throughout Nioh 3’s time periods, similar to Kodama and the new Chijiko spirits.

They’re easy to spot by their loud meowing sound. They’re essentially just cats.

If you pet a Scampus, it will run away, and you’ll have to chase it down and catch it. As a reward, you’ll receive a Samurai or Ninja Castle , as well as a Scampus Furball. This can be exchanged for useful items with the Great Scampus in the Eternal Abyss. If you find all the Scampuses in the Bakumatsu era, you’ll also receive the “Scampus Enthusiast” trophy .

All Scampuses in the Shichijo area

The only Scampus in Shichijo can be found near the Shichijo Gambling Den Shrine , which is essentially the center of the area. Turn around from the shrine and head deeper into the village, where a white Scampus awaits behind a fence . This Scampus will transform into a spirit and move around, and the only tricky part of the chase comes when it ends up on a rooftop accessible from a cliff near Karasuma Shichijo Shrine .

All Scampuses in the Sanjo area

There’s only one Scampus in Sanjo, and it’s located right in the center of the area, near the Oshikoji Street Shrine . Head left and down into the nearby village to find a black and orange Scampus sitting on the street. This Scampus will lead you on a rather tedious chase across the rooftops , so just take your time to catch it.

All Scampuses in the Gion area

Scampus can be found in Gion right next to the Great Tree Walk shrine . From here, simply climb the stairs to the platform where a black and orange Scampus awaits . This is another skittish Scampus, meaning you’ll need to sneak up on it and then use the tall grass to chase it. You’ll have to be cunning and find the right path, but it’s fairly easy if you keep an eye on the grass .

All Scampuses in the Mibu area

Scampus in Mibu is fairly easy to reach: simply respawn at the Horikawa Market Shrine and then head to the nearby Small Furnace , which needs to be cleaned. Then , head left and up the path on the right to reach the orange, white, and black Scampus . The chase is fairly straightforward, but he’ll lead you to several enemies you’ll need to defeat before you can pet him.
