Resident Evil Requiem Guide: How to Open the Police Station Case

In this guide, we’ll not only reveal the correct combination to open the briefcase found in the Raccoon City Police Station, but also explain step-by-step how to open it yourself. The locked briefcase itself is located in the STAR.S. office, the former department where Leon S. Kennedy joined as a rookie back in 1998, the year the fateful events that led to the destruction of the city occurred. This is one of the most challenging puzzles in Resident Evil Requiem, as discovering the correct clue isn’t easy.

So, in the Raccoon City Police Department (RPD), in the STAR.S. office , in one of the back lockers, there’s a briefcase with a combination lock . The solution, apparently, consists of three Latin letters. The search for the combination is linked to notes in the office about a missing book from the RPD library. Inside the briefcase itself is a “Enhanced Optics” accessory in the form of sunglasses reminiscent of those worn by Albert Wesker (which is no coincidence, as the solution itself is linked to the former head of the department).

Briefcase combination STAR.S. – in brief

Without beating around the bush, the combination to the briefcase at the police station is as follows:

  • RRR

Where to find a locked case at the police station

The briefcase is in a locker on the second floor of the RPD, in the west wing of the building, which you might not even turn into if you turn into the library right after going up the stairs.

How to solve the briefcase puzzle in the STAR.S office.

This short, optional investigation begins with “Barry’s To-Do List,” a file sitting on Burton’s desk in the STAR.S. office.

Read the to-do list, then go to Albert Wesker’s old desk in the small private office near the entrance and open the top drawer. Pressing the interaction button/key again while standing in front of the empty drawer will reveal a secret compartment, allowing you to collect the library card. Incidentally, it’s also one of the 75 documents associated with the “Case Closed” achievement.

With both files in hand, head to the police station library, which is located in the same west wing, on the second floor, on the other side of the stairs. In the library itself, go up to the third floor (the second level of the library). There’s practically nothing to interact with here, but on one of the shelves is a book about medicinal herbs (the same herbs you use in the Resident Evil series ). Only with both documents will this book become interactive, meaning you can interact with it. Inside the book, you’ll find a hidden file called “Photograph” (another document out of 75 required for the “Case Closed” achievement). If you unfold the photograph, you’ll find the inscription “Rising Rookie Rebecca” on the back. Albert Wesker was known to be a fan of the young Rebecca Chambers.

Solution and code from the case in the STAR.S office.

With the final clue on the back of the photograph, you can return to the STAR.S. office. You weren’t given the code combination directly, but the inscription on the photograph consists of three words, and if you take the three capital letters, it spells RRR.

Return to the briefcase in the old STAR.S. locker. Enter the code RRR to open it and receive the “Enhanced Optics” item.

Reward: “Enhanced Optics” decoration

The “Enhanced Optics” accessory, despite the description (which mentions the Requiem), can be used with any of Leon Kennedy’s weapons. It increases firepower when firing the last round in the cylinder and improves the weapon itself, granting “unlimited” bullet penetration: all targets behind the first target will take damage. Ideal if you want to get the achievement for killing three enemies at once. And for obvious reasons, it’s best to do this while using the Requiem.
