Get ready, bounty hunters, because Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is officially out. With a new hostile planet to explore, a mystery to uncover, and a multitude of creatures eager to tear you apart, this world can be a tough one for newcomers to the Metroid Prime franchise.

One of the most challenging enemies in the entire game is Omega Sorrow. Here’s what you need to know to defeat this boss and claim the final Teleporter Key.

How to defeat Omega Sorrow

Before we dive into tactics for defeating Omega Sorrow, it’s important to understand what this boss is capable of. Below is a complete list of all its attacks throughout the fight.

Attack Description
Claw Strike Omega Sorrow performs two quick claw slashes directly in front of itself.
Impact on the ground The boss raises his arms, howls, and slams the ground, creating a shockwave of rocks. The number of waves increases as his health decreases.
Acid Wave After emerging from its stunned state, Omega Sorrow releases a wave of caustic slime in front of itself.
Acid spheres While on the wall, the boss will fire up to five acid spheres at the player.
Tongue grab Omega Sorrow attempts to grab the player by shooting out its long tongue. If the grab is successful, you will slowly lose health and be pulled into the boss’s mouth, dealing massive damage.
Jump-crush The boss jumps across the arena, trying to crush you. The number of jumps increases as its health decreases.
Giant acid sphere After losing more than 50% health, Omega Sorrow will sometimes form a huge ball of acid above its head and throw it at you.
Acid ray After losing more than 50% of his health, the boss releases a beam of acid and, while shooting it, spins 360 degrees.

At the start of the battle, Omega Sorrow will quickly move along the wall and spit Acid Spheres at the player . Not only does getting hit deal significant damage, but it also forces the player to rapidly press a button to escape. Since the boss fires in bursts, getting hit by one sphere will likely trigger all the others .

At this point, you need to constantly dodge . After stopping, Omega Sorrow freezes in place for a few seconds, opening an opening for attack. Aim for the unprotected paws and arms . After dealing enough damage, you’ll force the boss to reveal a glowing red weak spot on its belly. Hitting it will stun Omega Sorrow and knock it to the ground.

At this point, the main phase of the fight begins. The boss will use a combination of Claw Strikes , Ground Slams , Tongue Grabs , and Crush Jumps . The key to avoiding most attacks is to stay on one side of the boss at all times . This will allow you to continuously target its vulnerable legs and avoid many dangerous maneuvers.

However, be prepared for the boss’s Ground Slam : when he does this, you need to jump over the shockwave he creates. As his health decreases, the waves will become more numerous, so you’ll need to jump slightly forward to overcome them.

To attack the paws, it’s best to use elemental weapon charges: they’re fast, deal good damage, and are especially effective if you’ve collected a lot of upgrades for your gun.

After taking enough damage, Omega Sorrow will stagger and freeze, leaning so its weak spot is facing the ground (as shown in the image above). At this point, transform into a Morph Ball and roll underneath the boss . Place a few bombs underneath it to deal damage, then quickly return to normal mode and fire at the exposed weak spot for a few seconds.

When Omega Sorrow loses about 30% of its health, it will jump back onto the wall and summon a wave of regular Sorrows. Deal with them quickly to avoid having to dodge Acid Spheres while fighting them. Ice Shot is great for this , as it freezes enemies in place, preventing you from being surrounded.

Then repeat the process: lure the boss off the wall and attack. Remember that he’s most vulnerable after his Acid Sphere attack , so try to dodge them to get a chance to deal damage with minimal risk.

When Omega Sorrow’s health drops just below 50%, she’ll start using Acid Beam and Giant Acid Sphere . The latter is easily dodged by stepping left or right . To avoid the beam, you need to transform into a Morph Ball and roll slightly closer to the boss, putting yourself out of its attack range.

Eventually, Omega Sorrow will take enough damage and collapse to the ground, tongue hanging out. Don’t get too close. It’s a trap: if you get too close, the boss will grab you and deal massive damage. Instead, keep your distance and keep shooting at its legs until it gets up.

Defeating Omega Sorrow will reward you with the Psi Force Bomb ability and the final Teleporter Key . Congratulations, you’ve defeated perhaps the most annoying boss in the game!
