Charcoal is created by burning any fuel in a stove or fire. Every time wooden sticks, tree trunks, plant fibers, or other fuels are consumed in a workstation, charcoal is produced as a byproduct of the process.
This means that cooking food over a fire or smelting ore in a furnace using any fuel other than charcoal itself will create one unit of charcoal along with the finished item or ingot.

No, it doesn’t currently exist. Coal ore doesn’t currently exist in Hytale, although this may change in the future. Players can’t find coal blocks in dungeons like copper or iron ore, and they can’t convert charcoal into coal.
