Hytale’s vast procedurally generated worlds are difficult to explore on foot. Fortunately, the game offers a variety of mounts, the most basic of which are horses.
If you’re tired of traversing Orbis on foot, riding a horse is a great alternative. Horses are fast, durable, and will help you get where you need to go quickly. Here’s how to mount a horse in Hytale.
At the time of writing, the game is in Early Access, and many features, including full taming, are not yet implemented. This feature will likely be added in future updates.
Where to find horses in Hytale

Horses are commonly found in grassland biomes —regions covered with hills and grassy plains. They often graze on their own while you explore the area in search of resources. However, be careful: horses are skittish and will run away as soon as they see you. Try sneaking up on them from behind.
Once you’re near a horse, press F (default) to mount it . You don’t need a saddle or any food to mount it. Just approach, press F, and ride away. Unfortunately, this won’t make the horse your friend . Once you dismount, it will likely run away.
How to tame a horse in Hytale

If you don’t want to spook the horses, bring a carrot . While you’re holding one, any adult horse nearby will approach you. However, if you switch to any other item in Hytale, the horse will immediately flee.
Carrots can be found randomly in the wild. They can also be grown independently. Carrot seeds are crafted at a farmer’s workbench using three Life Essences.

Currently, holding a carrot is the only way to keep a horse close. Unfortunately, this won’t make it a permanent companion. As soon as you remove the carrot, the horse will run away, regardless of whether you were sitting on it. However, if you corner the horse in a ditch in your base, it won’t try to escape, even if you remove the carrot .
