To solve the Haunted Hill Ruins puzzle in Crimson Desert, you must first unlock the “Wind Curtain” ability on the green branch of the skill tree. Then, use it on the two mechanisms in the area to drain the pool. Once the water is completely drained, the puzzle will be solved and you’ll unlock the Abyssal Stone.
The Haunted Hill Ruins are located in the eastern part of the region. This area has several fast travel points: for example, to the west is a puzzle in the graveyard near the Hunter’s Hut, and directly to the east is the Abyssal Nexus.

The “Wind Curtain” ability is located in the Spirit section (green branch) of the skill tree. It can also be learned through mastery by finding a ghost or human who can use the ability. However, the easiest way is to spend an Abyssal Artifact.
Once unlocked, you’ll receive instructions on how to use the ability. Activate Focus (which you learned in the “Encounter” quest in Chapter 2) by pressing X. Then, using a gamepad , rotate the camera to create a “swirl” motion. If you’re playing with a keyboard and mouse , simply hold down the right mouse button while in Focus mode. You don’t need to constantly rotate the camera—as soon as your character starts rotating their hand, the process will begin automatically, but it will consume Spirit over time.
First, head to the mechanism next to the still-inactive Abyssal Stone. This mechanism isn’t flooded, so you can activate it right away. Use Wind Curtain near it to spin the device. As it spins, the water level will gradually begin to recede. Wait until the water level stops receding, then move on to the second device. The second mechanism is opposite the first. Be careful—you can drown, so use the nearby fallen columns to safely reach the device and activate Wind Curtain.

Repeat the same steps to continue draining. This time, continue the process until the puzzle is solved. You’ll see the Abyss Stone activate. If done correctly, the water in the ruins will completely disappear.

If you run out of Spirit, use Focus to quickly replenish it. Draining progress doesn’t reset, so you don’t have to do it all at once.
Once the water has completely receded, a short cutscene will play showing the Abyssal Stone being unlocked. You can then approach it, collect the Abyssal Artifact, and activate a new fast travel point in the Haunted Hill area.
