If you want to activate another fast travel point and find an Abyssal Artifact to level up your skills, we recommend visiting the Snowy Mountain Ruins near Misty Falls. But before you can solve the puzzle hidden within the ruins, you’ll first need to simply find them. Afterward, you can refer to the second part of the guide, where we’ll show you the step-by-step walkthrough.
The location of the Snowy Mountain Ruins at Misty Backwater
The Snowy Mountain Ruins at Mistpool are located approximately 600 meters northwest of the town of Tolwynd in northwestern Ernand. They are hidden among the bushes as you approach the Argent Peaks subregion (map entry). You can also reach the ruins by following the westernmost road north from Tolwynd until it makes a large circle, then continuing west for approximately 150 meters, away from the road.
If something goes wrong while trying to solve a puzzle, you can move about 100 meters away and wait 30 seconds for the solution to reset. An even quicker way is to save the game before attempting the puzzle and reload the save.
When you reach the Snowy Mountain Ruins near Misty Pool, you’ll see a single large column rising from a raised platform. Stepping on the stone floor and the small device in the center will raise four more columns. To complete the puzzle, these four columns must be positioned at the same height as the original.
Quick tip : You don’t have to move blocks up or down one segment at a time. Try raising or lowering them by half a segment.
Solving the puzzle
Let’s number the columns from left to right from “1” to “5” and note that the four holes in the device move these columns as follows (starting with the hole that faces away from the columns):
- Hole #1: Controls columns #2 and #4.
- Hole #2 (right): controls columns #2 and #5.
- Hole #3 (rear): controls columns #3, #4 and #5.
- Hole #4 (left): controls columns #2, #3 and #4.
Use the Thrust skill (Shift + RMB) to thrust the sword into the holes of the central device in the following order and move the columns as follows:
- Use hole #2 to raise columns #2 and #5 half a segment.
- Use hole #3 to raise columns #3, #4, and #5 half a segment.
- Use hole #4 to raise columns #2, #3, and #4 half a segment.
If the tops of all the columns are at approximately the same height as the stationary column on the left (and this is indicated by the glow of each column), the puzzle will be solved and you will be able to collect the Abyssal Artifact.
