Far Cry 3 Guide: Save Locations

No matter how many new games Ubisoft releases in this series, a huge number will still return to the masterpiece third installment for its unique atmosphere of a gripping summer action movie. But if you want to continue your playthrough rather than start over, you’ll need your old saves, and here’s where to find them on PC.

Since Ubisoft was pushing its own Uplay launcher at the time , which forced the game to open when you launched it, even if you purchased Far Cry 3 through Steam , your saves would be stored here:

  • C:/Program Files (x86)/Ubisoft/Ubisoft Game Launcher/savegames/[Your Uplay ID]/46

The only caveat is that they’re stored in a folder with a long name consisting of a set of characters representing your Uplay account number. But you likely only have one such folder.

Those who didn’t want to bother with Uplay and downloaded a cracked pirated version of Far Cry 3 have saved themselves from such problems, as finding your saves won’t be so difficult using one of the following paths:

  • C:/ProgramData/Orbit/46/
  • C:/Documents/My Games/Far Cry 3/

If you decide to play Far Cry 3 on the Steam Deck portable console , which runs on Linux , then Uplay won’t bother you much either, as your saves will be stored in the standard path:

  • ~/.steam/steam/userdata/[Your Steam ID]/220240/
