Where Winds Meet features an interesting disguise system that allows your character to temporarily transform into another person. This isn’t just a cosmetic change—it opens up new gameplay possibilities.
What is camouflage?
Disguise is a complete visual and in-game transformation into another character. It allows you to communicate with those who would normally ignore you or infiltrate secure facilities .
However, while cloaked, your actions are limited : you can’t use many skills, such as jumping or “light step.” Furthermore, cloaking is limited in time, and activating it requires special “Trade Coins,” which are harder to find than regular currency. Use them wisely.
How to get new disguises
To create a disguise, you need to sketch a character . To do this, use the “Rattan Paper” item in your inventory. Unique characters can be sketched by interacting with them—a special tooltip will appear above them.
Be careful: if the character you want to transform into sees you drawing, they may call the guards .
After completing the “Veil of Love” quest and unlocking the disguise system, special markers (mask icons) will appear on the world map, indicating opportunities to create new disguises.
Makeup level
When you create a sketch, you’ll see the complexity level of the future disguise. This determines whether you’ll be able to create it, which is directly related to your “Makeup Level.”
Each disguise you create increases this level. The higher it is, the more complex disguises you can create. For example, with makeup level 3, disguises of difficulty 3 and below are available.
The best way to level up is to complete commissions at the Mask Workshop . These are special tasks that not only give experience but also unlock new stories.
Where to wear disguises
There are only two mask workshops in the game , both located in Kaifeng. The first is in the city itself , to the southeast, to the right of the fairground.
The second is located beneath the city, in the Ghostlight Market . Getting there is more difficult—it requires completing a separate chapter, and the market is only open at certain times. Your makeup level is shared between both locations.
