Pathologic 3: What diagnosis should I give to Khulan at Andrey Stamatin’s bar (Day 3)

Pathologic 3: What diagnosis should I give to Khulan at Andrey Stamatin's bar (Day 3)

Your first full-fledged case in Pathologic 3 begins even before Daniil Dankovsky has his own hospital. The quest related to the herbal bride, Khulan, will be the starting point and a kind of test of the tutorial system. At this point, you’ll understand how well you’ve grasped the mechanics, how to properly examine patients, and how to make accurate diagnoses. This process will guide you throughout the game.

The meeting with the herbal bride, Khulan, will take place at Andrey Stamatin’s tavern. You will learn about the mysterious “steppe medicine” and attempt to understand how well it works and how it treats (or fails to treat) the plague or the Sand Plague. You will learn how to interview patients, identify symptoms through dialogue, perform independent examinations of visible body parts, and, ultimately, make crucial decisions, correctly or incorrectly diagnosing them.

Thought “Vlad’s Experiments”

The Herbal Bride, or Khulan, is the first official patient Daniil Dankovsky encounters in Pathologic 3, before he manages to establish his own hospital. This quest will introduce you to the core mechanics and Daniil’s primary role—saving the city’s residents.

To begin the quest, head to Andrey Stamatin’s tavern in the Zavody district. Getting there is easy: the location is marked on the map, and within the district, it can be easily found using Concentration Mode.

Once at the tavern, speak with Andrey Stamatin at the bar to learn about the steppe medicine and that it’s being taken by the dancer Khulan, one of the Herbal Brides, who’s currently performing on stage. After finishing the conversation, proceed to speak with the dancer herself.

How to find all the symptoms of the Hulan dancer

The conversation with the herbal bride, Khulan, is a learning moment, demonstrating the primary method for identifying patient problems in Pathologic 3. The key is to regularly check the tablet (the button to open it is in the lower right corner of the screen; on the keyboard , it’s the N key) and note the symptoms you’ve identified from the patient’s description. She’ll mention signs like a rapid pulse and loss of coordination, but she won’t directly or explicitly state them. This is, however, what most patients do in the game.

During the dialogue, you’ll proceed to a physical examination. Here, you can use the examination mode to note external symptoms, which will appear on the screen as Daniil Dankovsky’s thoughts. This will confirm a rapid pulse, as well as the presence of a rash or insect bites.

Don’t waste time examining your arms and legs – you won’t find anything there, and such an examination will only take up time (as always, moving on to another part of the body costs you 10 minutes).

Once you’ve verified that all the symptoms are recorded in your tablet (don’t forget to tap them when you open the tablet with the N key), speak with the Herbal Bride, Khulan, again and ask her about them. This information will be enough to make a diagnosis: the most likely cause is lymphotonitis, despite the fact that she shows virtually no noticeable weakness.

Record this diagnosis on your tablet, after which you can continue the current quest. To do this, simply speak with Andrey Stamatin again at the bar, then report the results to Saburov at the City Hall. After that, you’ll move on to the next stage of Day 3—creating a hospital .
