Resident Evil Requiem Guide: Where to Find the BSAA Key and All Containers

Resident Evil Requiem Guide: Where to Find the BSAA Key and All Containers

While exploring East Raccoon City on his way to the center, home to the famous police station, Leon S. Kennedy will encounter a total of four BSAA containers. Opening them all will require a special key, which, as you’ll notice, you must find during the story to advance the mission.

You’ll see the first BSAA container almost immediately after Leon emerges into the ruined streets of East Raccoon City, but you’ll only be able to open it and the others after progressing through the story and optionally backtracking through a rather obscure route. Overall, BSAA container 04 is the most difficult to access. But each container contains useful items!

The key to the BSAA containers is located behind the Cedar Creek Apartments. Access to this area is unlocked using the key of the same name, which you’ll pick up while searching for detonator parts. These activities also overlap with the quest to find fuel for the generator, so be sure to obtain the first detonator part before opening the containers themselves.

Where to find the key to the BSAA containers

The key will automatically appear in your inventory after the cutscene ends. It will start after you head east past the gas station after finding two batteries in the flooded parking lot beneath Cedar Creek, lift the gate, and exit the apartment complex. The key is on the body of a dead BSAA agent at the entrance to the Cedar Creek Apartments.

All BSAA containers and their locations

There are four BSAA containers in the game:

  • Container BSAA 01 is located near the Cedar Creek Apartments. The container is open by default, and it’s near it (+/-) that you find the BSAA Container Key. Inside are some medications and a note listing the contents of the remaining containers.
  • BSAA Container 02 – inside the BSAA Central Camp, next to the tent you reach at the very beginning of the level, after passing through the gate with the explosives installed, which require a detonator.
  • Container BSAA 03 is located among the wrecked cars at the very end of the road, if you turn right immediately after the Kedrovy Ruchey apartments, passing the gas station.
  • Container BSAA 04 is located near the Applegate Hotel . You’ll have to return to the very beginning of East Raccoon City, through the subway station , but finding your way isn’t easy (you can’t return by the same route, as most of it has been destroyed by a giant spider ).

The open BSAA 01 container near the Cedar Creek Apartments contains a list of all the containers’ contents, titled “Inventory List” (this refers to in-game documents ), but it doesn’t show the exact directions to each one. However, after passing a BSAA container, a special icon will appear on the map, making them much easier to find.

Important : To reach any BSAA container in Raccoon City, you first need to go through the Cedar Creek Apartments, which is done according to the story, in the underground parking lot where you look for 2 batteries.

How to get to the Cedar Creek Apartments

First, you need to obtain the key to the Cedar Creek Apartments . This isn’t actually the key to the building itself, but to the gate leading to it. It’s easy to miss it while searching for the first detonator part, so follow our steps below.

First, start the generator in the BSAA Central Camp, then press the button and raise the garage shutters to enter the Logistics Warehouse. Proceed through the warehouse, fighting off the zombies that emerge from the ground. Look up and shoot the yellow straps holding the cargo containers to the ceiling to create a path above. You’ll need to shoot two sets of suspended containers, but you can hit all three to reach additional loot in the two destructible crates above. Climb the sections of yellow ladders and follow the fallen containers above. If you missed a container, run between the shelves and look up at the ceiling. At the end of the path, deal with the infected that jumps out of the side office , go inside, and collect the key to the Cedar Creek Apartments .

After you pick up the distributor, the first detonator part, on the warehouse roof, the elevator nearby will take you back down to the tent in the BSAA Central Camp. If necessary, save your game and use the key on the locked gate near the elevator—the path to the Cedar Creek Apartments is now open!

Container BSAA 01

The first BSAA container is unlocked by default. It’s located just behind the Cedar Creek Apartments. You can explore it after finding two batteries in the flooded underground parking lot and opening the gate to reach the other side of the street, past a huge pit. Here, you also pick up the BSAA container key from the corpse of one of the unit’s soldiers—without the key, you won’t be able to open the other containers.

A huge hole prevents access to other containers on foot from the BSAA central camp.

Container BSAA 02

The second container is the easiest to find. It’s located near the BSAA Central Camp, where you’ll find a container for weapon orders and upgrades, as well as a save terminal. Inside, you’ll find a motorcycle and a repair kit, which will come in handy later.

These are all story-related items, and you’ll have to open this container no matter what! There’s no need to rush into opening it: you’ll return here anyway during the storyline while searching for the detonator parts.

Container BSAA 03

The third container is hidden among the debris at the end of the road, if you turn right when exiting the Cedar Creek Apartments (and pass the gas station). It seems impossible to reach at first. To get inside, follow these steps:

Note the white “03” sign on the outside side wall of the container. Go around the destroyed truck and climb the ladder to its roof. Run along the top of the container and drop down into the open area where a red explosive canister is located. Open the container, immediately turn around, and throw the canister at the infected inside. After the explosion, you can safely enter and pick up a new rifle and ammo .

Container BSAA 04

The fourth and final BSAA container is located at the very beginning of East Raccoon City, but getting back there is very difficult. You must return to the Applegate Hotel—the very first district you entered after arriving in Raccoon City. You can’t get here without fuel, as you need to refuel one of the generators at the construction site.

So, first visit the gas station, find a canister and fill it with fuel from the tank outside, after first destroying the crowd of infected.

After this, if you’re facing the gas station, follow the road to the left, towards the huge pit blocking the path to the central camp. To the right of the pit is a crane control panel. Interact with it to lower a large beam, allowing you to cross from one side to the other.

There’s also a generator next to the crane control panel. Fuel it and you’ll be able to open the nearby gate. Go through it, climb the ladder, and drop down to a construction site with a truck and a bunch of infected. After killing them all, look to the right of the truck for a barely noticeable hatch leading underground.

Descend and you’ll find yourself at the subway station. You’ll need to navigate through the train cars where Mr. Raccoon is hidden. Eventually, you’ll exit through the previously locked doors of the Ridgewood station (you passed them earlier). After exiting, turn left, return to the Applegate Hotel, clear out the zombies that appear, and open the final BSAA container.

Inside the container you will find the BSAA Emblem decoration for Leon and a tracking device that gives credits for purchasing equipment.
