The Blacksmith in the Eternal Abyss gives Nioh 3 players a special quest. She asks them to collect several famous Hidden Blades created during the Heian period, so that by studying them, they can regain some of their lost memories. Walkthrough of the “Memories in the Blade” myth
To activate the “Memories in a Blade” myth in Nioh 3, you must first complete the main story quest “The Corrupted Sacred Mountain” in the Heian era. Afterward, return to the Eternal Abyss and speak with the blacksmith to begin the myth. She will ask you to find three blades crafted by masters of their craft.
Location of the first hidden blade
Talk to the blacksmith again, and after her research, she’ll reveal the location of the first blade. Head to the western part of the Hachijo area and teleport to Nishiichi Shrine.
Climb the northern slope and climb the ladder. Turn west and break the crates to find a Spirit Vein. Use it to reach the other side, then go around the back of the house. Take the Hidden Blade of Dojikiri Yasutsuna from the tombstone.
Location of the second hidden blade
After you give the first blade to the blacksmith, she’ll ask you to find the next one, marking it on your map. Head to the western part of Sagano, fast-traveling to Matsuo-taisha Shrine: Great Gate Shrine.
Climb the stairs and turn left to destroy the bamboo covering the secret entrance. Turn left again, jump onto the roof of the abandoned house, and go through the opening. Open the chest to receive Mikazuki Munechika’s Hidden Blade .
Location of the third hidden blade
The final blade is located inside the Crucible and is only available during the main quest “Frozen City, Burning Tree.” Explore the Crucible until you reach the bodhisattva statue at the Shunka Gate in the palace grounds. Climb the nearby slope and defeat the yokai in the house. Open the chest to receive the hidden blade Odenta Mitsuyu .
If you missed the blade, you can replay the quest using the Scroll of Battle in the Sanctuary.
Give the blade to the blacksmith, and she will remember everything, including her name and the one who taught her the art of forging weapons.
