The Mist Veil Forest is an area in Kaifeng in Where Winds Meet , shrouded in a mysterious fog. Even a second spent in this fog infects the hero with a deadly poison for which there is no known antidote.
Fortunately, during the “Mirage of Contagion” quest, you can find a cure for the toxin, clear the fog over the forest, and ultimately gain access to the world boss, the Lord of Ghosts. A detailed walkthrough of this quest is provided below.
How to start the “Mirage of Infection” quest
Enter Mistveil Forest , and the event will activate. Track the quest and follow the marker. However, along the way, you’ll be struck by the Poisonous Fog from Dawn to Dusk , knocking you unconscious. After a few moments, you’ll awaken, and the quest can begin.
Walkthrough of the “Mirage of Infection” quest
Talk to Zhai Xu to get a sense of the situation, then try to gather more information. To continue, you’ll need to distract Zhai Xu. Use Meridian Touch on the wind chime outside the window , and when he leaves the house, collect two clues.
Talk to Zhai Xu again, then leave his dwelling. Open your satchel and read the “Thousand Desires Amendment .” It will tell you that the poisonous fog can be cured, but to do so, you’ll need to collect cures from two factions in the forest: the Void Abode and the Golden Pavilion .
The Abode of Emptiness
The Void Abode base is located in the westernmost part of the forest . This is also the location for stealing the Soul Shadow Umbrella skill , so you’ll become invisible when approaching.
Luckily, you don’t have to go far to find the note. Go through the window on the second floor of the main building, then go down the stairs on the right .
A note with a prescription for medicine lies on the table right at the foot of the stairs.
Golden Pavilion
The Golden Pavilion note can be found in the northeastern part of the map , east of the Boundary Stone of northern Mistveil Forest . It’s also an outpost, so it’s easy to spot.
Eliminate the enemies at the outpost, then find the medicine in the main house – it’s on the table to the left of the entrance.
Return to Wishing Bay
Once you have all three cures (from the Void Abode, the Golden Pavilion, and the Bay of Wishes), return to the Bay of Wishes and give the cures (along with the borrowed manuscript) to Zhai Xiu. Then wait two days .
Enter Zhai Xiu’s house and read the letter he left behind. Now follow him to the hut near the Boundary Stone in northern Mist Veil Forest and speak with him there.
He’ll give you a prototype antidote to the toxin, allowing you to move deeper into the forest . While exploring , stay close to the fire to reduce the poison’s effects .
Follow the path marked by braziers to a group of Golden Pavilion guards and defeat them.
During the fight, be careful and don’t move too far from the fire , otherwise the fog will start killing you.
Sun Buqi’s Lair
After dealing with the guards, move a little further and use fire arrows to destroy the Dawn to Dusk Flowers , opening the way to the tunnel. Follow the tunnel to the clearing and explore the four points in this area.
Then use Fire Arrows again to destroy the three Flowers , causing Sleeping Puppets to fall from the tree. Defeat them and examine the Folding Fan with Silver Needles .
Follow the mysterious figure and then enter the hidden lair.
After going a little deeper, you ‘ll run into an ambush , so be prepared to dodge. Continue forward, then destroy two Flowers and fight a group of Sleeping Puppets .
