Having trouble marking all the locations for Tian Wen in the “Back on Top” quest in ARC Raiders? Don’t worry, this guide details and visually shows all four locations marked by the Gunsmith. This is one of the most challenging quests (and there are also quests to destroy elite ARC robots) in the entire Extraction shooter, not only because the locations to mark are difficult to find, but also because it requires visiting four separate maps.
If you don’t want to waste time searching for the right places, in this guide we’ll explain how to complete the “Back on Top” quest in ARC Raiders so you can reach each objective as quickly as possible and avoid aimless wandering around the in-game maps , which often ends with encounters with robots or marauding raiders.
So, “Back to the Top” is one of the most challenging quests in ARC Raiders. It not only offers four different objectives, but also sends players to four separate maps. This means you’ll have to complete four different stages to complete the quest.
Let’s list all the objectives of the “Back on Top” mission:
- Mark a geometric outpost on the Dam Battlefield.
- Note the white watchtower south of the Blue Gate warehouse complex.
- Mark the southern trench tower in the spaceport.
- Mark the buried building with graffiti in the Buried City.
Mark a geometric outpost on the battlefield at the dam
Luckily, the building you need is the easiest to find on the Dam Battlefield, making it the perfect place to start the quest. The location you need to go to is called the “House with Frescoes” and is located to the right of the Western Broken Bridge, in the upper left corner of the map.
If you’ve completed the missions “Ridge Echo” or “Amendments,” you’ll know exactly where to go. If not, go to the top of the map and mark the landmark “House with Frescoes” to easily navigate using the compass at the top of the screen.
Once you reach the House of Frescoes, head to the southern entrance and mark the area to the right of the door. Afterwards, you can return to Speranza to begin the next stage of the mission.

This is the most difficult area to access. It’s teeming with both hungry raiders and powerful ARC vehicles, specifically elite robots. We recommend completing this stage as a team, or at least bringing the best weapons and shields for your own safety. However, you can get by with free equipment, as you don’t need to return anything to Speranza and failure won’t incur any losses. Remember to constantly monitor the flying ARC vehicles, which are scanning the ground for raiders.
The location you want to mark is a small, inconspicuous tower located between the “Warehouse Complex” and the “Checkpoint.” It’s not marked or labeled on the map, so you’ll have to search for it a bit blindly. Once you spot the tower, approach the wall to the left of the door to leave a mark.
Once you’ve finished working in the tower, calmly return to Speranza to begin working on the next target.
Mark the southern trench tower in the spaceport
The Southern Trench Tower is almost as difficult to reach as the Blue Gate, but there are slightly fewer enemies. However, it’s still a robot-infested area, so be vigilant. If you’re lucky, you’ll literally appear on the map near the right spot. If not, you’re in for a tough ride , though you can always press ESC and choose “Surrender” if you’re using free gear. Mark the Southern Trench Tower on your map to make it easier to navigate the interface without having to open the map.
This location is easier to approach from the south. The Northern Trench Tower is nearby, but it’s separated by a massive ditch that’s difficult to cross unnoticed. Once you reach the Southern Trench Tower, climb the stairs on the north side and approach the large building with an observation window on the second floor.
Go to the wall on the right side of the steps and mark it to proceed to the final objective.
Mark a buried building with graffiti in the Buried City
Luckily, all the difficult locations on the list are behind us. The final location for Tian Wen is in the Buried City, near the Buried Buildings, which are to the left of the Spaceport. The Buried Buildings aren’t clearly marked, but you can still find them on the map thanks to the inscription of the same name. Place a marker to navigate using your compass.
Once you reach the “Buried Buildings,” head east/northeast to find a long building with two garage doors. The right door should be open, which will serve as your landmark. The building is already marked with an interesting “eye” icon, making it easy to spot. Approach the closed garage door on the left and mark it again to complete the quest.
“Back on Top” is one of the most challenging quests in ARC Raiders, but it does offer some pretty valuable rewards. Completing this mission will reward you with one Rebel I assault rifle, one Reliable Stock III for the same rifle, and 80 medium rounds. The Rebel is an excellent weapon, and the Reliable Stock III attachment is also compatible with this assault rifle.
