In Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, seemingly optional quests often turn out to be quite important. This tradition continues in the Mysteria Ecclesiae expansion with the quest “Seek and Find,” which begins with an innocent conversation with a librarian and culminates in plundering a crusader’s tomb in search of a sacred relic.
How to start the quest “Seek and Find”
After the fire at Sedlec Monastery, several quests will become available to you, and the investigation of this incident is, of course, your first priority. It’s definitely best to complete it first, as otherwise the final stage will be more difficult. We’ll cover this in more detail later.
Basically, your task will be to speak with the local librarian, Crispin, about what happened in the monastery crypt, where you encountered tomb robbers. Crispin suggests that the thieves were searching for a legendary relic from the Crusades, buried with Bolesław Bavor in Sedlec Monastery, but even he believes this is just a myth.
At the end of the conversation, you can ask the librarian to share the source of this information. While there’s a speech test option, you can also convince him through outright deception.
Crispin will point out two books lying on nearby lecterns. You don’t need to read them all; simply skim through them to the end.
These are Bavor’s diaries and monastery records, from which you will learn that Boleslav actually brought back some relic from the crusade, and then donated a large sum for the production of a fresco for the Sedlec Monastery, where he bequeathed to be buried.
Next, you need to ask Crispin about it. Here, you can choose any line except the last one with a speech check, as the librarian will share all the necessary information regardless.
If you want to increase your reputation, say at the end: “We will solve this riddle together.”
In the end, Crispin will confirm that the chapel contains the very same fresco with the coat of arms of Bavor, and will even give you a sketch that you need to examine and remember.
After this, you will have two tasks: find the fresco and go down into the crypt again.
Basically, if you’ve only opened this article to find out the location of Bavor’s tomb, after talking to Crispin you can skip the next steps and move on to the last point of the guide.
How to find the fresco of Bolesław Bavor
As you can see, both tasks are located nearby, since the entrance to the crypt is also located in the chapel next to the frescoes.
But keep in mind that the monastery is still under quarantine, so you shouldn’t be seen by the guards.
Since there are many different images inside, we will immediately mark the desired fresco on the screenshot, which is located on the eastern wall of the cathedral.
There you will find the very same coat of arms of Bavor, and you will notice that it also depicts a shield.
How to find Bavor’s coffin in the crypt
Bolesław Bavor was supposedly buried along with other clergy in the very same crypt that had previously been plundered. To confirm this, we’ll have to descend into this breeding ground of infection again, so don’t forget to don your plague hood.
Distract the guard at the stairs by throwing a stone on the G key and go down into the crypt, where there will be another one who can be distracted as well
Let’s say right away that there is no point in examining the sarcophagi in the crypt itself; you should immediately proceed to the passage behind the left wall at the end of the room.
Then move along the tunnel until you reach approximately the place we have marked on the map below.
There will be a turn to the right, and on the left is the sarcophagus you need with the very same coat of arms of Bavor.
However, upon examining it, it turns out that inside lies not a crusader, but some kind of monk.
Once you learn of the substitution, turn 180 degrees and go to the dead end, where there is a hole in the wall through which you can climb to the jump button.
Once you get out, you will find a dead guard outside.
We recommend taking weapons and armor from him.
Don’t wear armor in front of other guards, or you’ll be caught stealing.
Next, you can immediately turn left through the open grate and return through the dungeon to the library to Crispin, or linger a little and go along the bloody one.
He will lead you to the body of a mercenary , who can be searched.
He doesn’t have anything particularly valuable on him, except for a Hungarian florin.
This coin is not only worth 100 groszy, but also hints at the identity of the customer, although you will find out about this in the future .
As we already mentioned, we need to return to the library and tell Crispin about the absence of Bavor’s body in the sarcophagus.
Ultimately, the librarian will come to the conclusion that Boleslav was reburied and now rests in the cemetery near the church.
How to find the grave of Bolesław Bavor
After talking with Crispin, a marker will appear on the map for the cemetery behind the monastery hospital.
Sometimes the entrance there is closed with a complex lock , so if you don’t have master keys, you will have to make a large circle and go around from the south through a water moat and forest gardens.
Let’s just say that the door to the cemetery grounds is also locked with a complex lock, but there are two other easy ways to get there.
The easiest way is to climb over the southern wall.
You can also go to the barn next to the herbalist’s house and pick up the key.
As expected, there will be many graves in the cemetery, but the one you need is located to the right of the entrance between the columns.
After examining it, Henry will notice a cross with the coat of arms of Bavor, which means you need to look here.
And by digging up the grave using the interaction button, you will indeed discover a buried crusader.
The first thing that matters is to pick up a sword and equip it.
After this, pay attention to the lid of the sarcophagus.
After examining it, Henry will discover a hiding place behind a stone tablet in the shape of a shield, where the sacred relic will be hidden.
What happens next depends on the order in which you complete the quests.
If you haven’t killed the tomb robbers in the crypt yet and haven’t yet completed the investigation of the monastery fire during the quest “And Not to Dust You Shall Return,” you’ll be attacked by three mercenaries. A fight with them is inevitable.
That’s why we advised you to equip the sword in advance.
Only by defeating these three enemies will you be able to leave the cemetery.
Otherwise, it will be enough to simply exit through the door, where you will be arrested by the guards one way or another and taken to the abbot for interrogation.
Again, the answer options here may vary depending on your actions in previous quests, but the correct option will always remain the same.
There’s no point in lying to the abbot and trying to keep the relic for yourself, as it will be returned to you no matter what. Therefore, it’s best to tell the whole truth right away, and if you’ve already completed the investigation of the fire during the quest “And Not to Dust,” Henry will do so automatically.
Moreover, if you cooperate with the abbot, he will finally allow you to move around the monastery grounds again, which will greatly simplify the completion of the final mission “Hour of Reckoning.”
