Anyone who’s played Cities: Skylines knows firsthand how difficult it is to build not just a large and beautiful city, but also a thriving one. Therefore, it would be a real shame to lose all your progress due to emergencies, such as natural disasters within the game or technical issues on your computer. To prevent this from happening, we recommend making a copy of your save file, which you can find here.
Regardless of whether the game was purchased through Steam or the Epic Games Store , Cities: Skylines saves will be stored here:
- C:/Users/[Username]/AppData/Local/Colossal Order/Cities_Skylines/Saves/
Since the saves are located in the AppData folder, which is usually hidden by default, the fastest way is to press the Win + R key combination and enter the following text:
- %LOCALAPPDATA%/Colossal Order/Cities_Skylines/Saves/
Next, just click OK and you will immediately find yourself in the folder with the save file.
But if you got Cities: Skylines through an alternative means, or, more simply, downloaded a pirated copy, you may now pay for it, as saves can be located anywhere, for example, here:
- C:/Users/Public/Documents/Steam/CODEX/255710/
All of the above options were for the Windows version of Cities: Skylines, but the game also works on other operating systems, and here’s where the save files are located in those cases.
Linux :
- ~/.local/share/Colossal Order/Cities_Skylines/Saves/
macOS (OS X) :
- ~/Library/Application Support/Colossal Order/Cities_Skylines/Saves/
