Crimson Desert Guide: How to Complete the Twisted Hills Ruins

To complete the “Encounter” quest in Crimson Desert, you need to complete several actions, including solving the riddle of the ancient ruins of the Twisted Hills.

First, talk to the Shai child—he’ll suggest Cliff follow the cat . When you reach the ruins, carefully observe the shadow’s actions to complete the “Lift” and “Focus” abilities. Finally, you’ll have to uncover the mystery of the ancient ruins (by exploring them), which will lead to the discovery of an Abyssal Stone (another type of teleportation point, along with Abyssal Foci).

“Lift” does exactly what its name suggests: it allows you to lift and move heavy objects. In this story mission, approach the stone door until a prompt appears, then press the appropriate buttons and keys to lift the wall and enter. On a keyboard and mouse , use the F key and left-click combination.

Inside the ancient ruins of the Twisted Hills, you’ll see the shadow again—this time, it’s sitting quietly. It turns out this is another skill you’ll learn right now: Focus.

“Focus” slows time and gradually regenerates Spirit. This ability allows you to use Spirit-consuming skills more often. This gives you an unlimited supply of Spirit points, but you’ll have to spend time regenerating them.

After learning Focus, the next step is uncovering the secret of the ancient ruins. This is essentially a tutorial that shows how to solve puzzles in the ruins containing Abyssal Stones, in this case, in the Twisted Hills area.

To solve the puzzle, hit the circular buttons in the following order: center, right, left. If you make a mistake, you can reload your save and try again. After successfully solving the puzzle, a pillar called the Abyss Stone will emerge from the ground. This step is optional, but it’s recommended to immediately collect the Abyss Artifact from the pillar to avoid returning later—it’s used to unlock new skills. Each Abyss Artifact grants 1 skill point. Furthermore, the Ancient Ruins won’t be counted as completed until you collect this artifact.

Additionally, the Abyssal Stone will now act as a fast travel point, so you can use it to teleport later.

Then approach the Shai child outside the ruins. There you’ll meet another character—Bilwise. He’ll give you an inventory expansion bag, increasing your total number of slots. Approaching him should trigger a cutscene—if this doesn’t happen, try reloading the location.

After completing all of these steps, the “Meeting” quest in Crimson Desert will be completed.
