Appearance

The MSI MPG VELOX 300R AIRFLOW PZ is a mid-tower computer case with a bottom-mounted power supply . Dimensions are 485 x 235 x 518 mm and weight is 10.3 kg. It is constructed using metal, glass, and a small amount of plastic. Our review unit is the white version, but a more classic black version is also available.

The front panel is a removable metal panel. It is attached to a plastic frame using quick-release fasteners. Most of it is covered with mesh, and embellished with the MPG series name at the bottom and the company’s dragon logo at the top.

Under the panel is a removable fine-mesh dust filter, attached to the case with magnets. Removing it reveals the plastic frame, which can also be removed. It is held in place with standard plastic clips.

Beneath it is an EZ Bracket mounting plate for coolers. The base setup uses two 160mm fans. These can be upgraded to three 120mm or 140mm fans, and if you want to use liquid cooling, the front panel will accommodate a radiator from 120mm to 360mm.

The included fans deserve special attention. Firstly, they feature customizable RGB lighting. Secondly, each one is equipped with a three-position speed switch. Thirdly, their design uses two tiers of blades, which reduces vibration while simultaneously increasing cooling efficiency by forming an aerodynamic funnel that provides concentrated airflow. This makes the coolers used in this model quieter, more reliable, and more efficient than standard solutions.

The left side is completely enclosed by a glass panel with standard quick-release fasteners. It has a white border around the perimeter, making it easy to operate without leaving fingerprints.

The right side consists of a metal panel with a solid center and perforated sides. On the inside, both mesh sections are covered with the familiar magnetic filters, preventing dust from penetrating the case. The side panel is secured with the same quick-release fasteners.

Removing the wall reveals a fairly spacious space designed for wiring and storage devices. This side also provides access to the power supply bay, which can be up to 200 mm long. The mounting area is padded with soft pads to dampen vibrations that can cause unpleasant noise.

Near the front panel, there are mounting holes for three 120mm fans or a 120mm, 240mm, or 360mm water-cooling radiator. The remaining area is covered by two removable panels (secured with quick-release screws). The upper panel accommodates two 2.5-inch drives, while the lower panel accommodates two 2.5-inch drives or one 3.5-inch drive. Combined with numerous openings in the inner panel, these panels provide excellent access to the rear of the motherboard, allowing the case to be used with models featuring reverse-wired cables.

The above is complemented by a controller with PWM and ARGB connectors for connecting four coolers. The base configuration uses three fans (two with and one without LEDs), leaving two ARGB and one PMW connectors available. The lighting is controlled via a button on the case, which allows you to select one of 18 operating modes (8 static and 10 dynamic), as well as via the built-in BIOS on motherboards with ARGB support, or via the proprietary MSI Center utility. The latter two options offer more extensive customization options. Furthermore, the cooler’s lighting can be synchronized with other components or peripherals.

In conclusion, I would like to point out that the existing wires are neatly assembled using cable ties, so their purpose is easy to understand and new ones can be added if necessary.

The rear panel is typical of models with a bottom-mounted PSU. At the very base, there’s a wide slot for the power supply, and above it are seven horizontal expansion slots with grilles secured with small screws. This means they don’t break off, but rather can be easily removed, allowing them to be reinstalled if needed. Further up, on the left, there’s a slot for the motherboard connectors, and on the right, a 120mm dual-blade fan is installed, but without lighting or a speed switch. The fan can be replaced with a similarly sized liquid cooling radiator if needed. The rest of the rear panel is generously perforated.

The top is covered by a fine-mesh metal cover, held in place by a pair of quick-release screws at the rear. Toward the front, on the right, is a control panel featuring power and backlight control buttons, a combined headphone/microphone audio output, two USB-A ports with 5 Gbps data transfer rates, and one USB-C port with 20 Gbps data transfer rates. Removing the cover reveals another mesh filter and a metal partition with numerous mounting holes for a liquid cooling radiator up to 360 mm in size or three coolers with diameters of 120 or 140 mm.

The base of the case is equipped with four tall feet, raising it above the floor for better air circulation. Each foot has rubberized pads that improve stability and eliminate potential vibration. The base is almost entirely perforated, promoting better ventilation, and for dust protection, it features a removable filter on a plastic frame. Unlike other dust filters, this filter is not held in place by magnets, but rather inserted into special grooves.

The interior is divided into three parts: the power supply compartment, the motherboard area, and the cooling zone.

The PSU compartment is separated from the rest of the case by a metal shroud, which can optionally accommodate a pair of 120mm fans. It’s secured with a pair of quick-release screws, so it can be removed if needed to simplify cable routing or fan installation.

We’ve already discussed the cooling zone. It allows for the installation of coolers or radiators in the front, in place of fans, as well as on the side panel and/or top of the case. Furthermore, at its base, there’s a cage for a 2.5- or 3.5-inch drive, secured with four standard screws. If removed, a single 120mm fan can be installed in its place.

The main compartment accommodates motherboards in ATX (including reverse-connected), Micro-ATX, Mini-ITX, and EATX formats (up to 305 x 278 mm), video cards up to 400 mm long, and CPU coolers up to 165 mm high. Motherboard openings are labeled with letters according to their format. ATX models come with pre-installed feet and screws, so be sure to reposition them if your motherboard is larger. Notable features include a height-adjustable rotating video card stand with a rubber pad to dampen vibration, as well as numerous cable routing openings. Some of these openings are covered with rubberized covers to protect cables from damage.
Impressions of use

The MSI MPG VELOX 300R AIRFLOW PZ is an excellent case that has many advantages and no drawbacks.
First, I’d like to point out the stylish and modern design, which, while not being too flashy, makes it clear that this model is designed for gaming PCs . Furthermore, it boasts excellent build quality and high-quality materials, which gives it a leg up on its competitors. During testing, I didn’t notice any chips or uneven paintwork, the metal didn’t flex under my fingers, and when assembled, all panels fit tightly together without any play. This is despite the fact that there are very few rigid screw fasteners, and in most cases, convenient quick-release plastic fasteners are used.
The second advantage is its large size and weight, which ensures excellent stability when assembled, meaning it won’t vibrate or emit extraneous noise. Its impressive dimensions not only lend the device a monumental appearance but also provide ample space for the latest components, designed for uncompromising gaming even in the most demanding titles.
Speaking of the interior, it’s not only spacious but also well-organized, making PC building a simple and enjoyable experience. This is further enhanced by a host of useful little touches, including dedicated panels and a drive cage (up to five in total, by the way), a removable power supply shroud, plenty of cable management, an adjustable graphics card holder, reusable expansion slot grilles, numerous cable ties, rubber anti-vibration pads, a hub, and a convenient fan mounting plate on the front panel.

The new model’s fans are also quite interesting. As mentioned above, each one features two tiers of blades, making them quieter, more reliable, and more efficient. Furthermore, two of them are larger, feature a mechanical switch for speed adjustment, and feature beautiful ARGB lighting with 18 modes, fine-tuning via the BIOS or MSI Center app, and the ability to synchronize with other components or peripherals.
The included fans do their job perfectly, and excellent airflow throughout the interior further enhances cooling efficiency. In fact, the only solid part here is the glass panel on the left; all other walls are almost entirely perforated. Nearly all of these are protected by filters, so while the components are exposed to airflow from all sides, they always remain clean, as dust can only penetrate through the small mesh on the rear.
Regarding cooling, another advantage is the extensive options for upgrading it. We won’t go into detail here, as we’ve already covered it. Just a quick reminder that a liquid cooling radiator up to 360 mm can be installed not only in the front, but also on the top or side, and the total number of fans can reach up to 13. With this setup, even the most powerful build can be cooled.
All of the above is complemented by a good set of interfaces on the case, one of which has a speed of 20 Gbps, i.e. ensures fast data exchange.
Conclusion

The price of the MSI MPG VELOX 300R AIRFLOW PZ case at the time of writing starts at 9,000 rubles.
In my opinion, this model is worth every penny, as it offers a spacious solution with effective cooling and ample room for improvement, excellent build quality, high-quality materials, good dust protection, a stylish design, beautiful lighting, thoughtful construction, and a host of useful little features that, taken together, ensure simple, convenient, and neat PC assembly.
