Mithril is needed to smelt Mithril ingots, which in turn are required to craft pickaxes, axes, and other high-level tools in Hytale . However, finding this legendary resource isn’t easy. Players wander the map without finding it for two important reasons: its rarity and its similarity to silver and iron ore, making it even more difficult to recognize.
But there’s another reason why mithril is so elusive in Hytale. This guide covers the basics of finding it, mining it, and smelting it into materials for high-tier gear. Let’s explore the key characteristics of mithril veins and how they appear in the game.
How to find mithril in Hytale

At the time of writing, natural mithril spawns are disabled by default (in worlds created using World Gen 1—more details below). However, this has changed with the release of V2, which is gradually introducing some changes.
Mithril is present in the game’s resource database, so players can craft and mine it using console commands or in Creative Mode. It’s important to disable OP mode to avoid destroying veins without collecting resources .
In terms of natural occurrence (in V2 and later versions of the game) , mithril is not only rare but also difficult to find. As mentioned earlier, distinguishing mithril from silver and iron is quite difficult. Here’s a comparison of three veins: mithril is on the far left , followed by silver and iron.

In dark places, such as caves, dungeons, and underground passages in the volcanic biome, distinguishing mithril from other ores is problematic. Lighting doesn’t improve the situation.
Therefore, the best way to find mithril is to search for it during daylight hours, on the surface, and in the Volcanic Biome . As strange as it may sound, some high-level ores, such as cobalt, adamantite, and mithril, do indeed appear more frequently on the surface than underground. Or at least, they’re easier to spot there.
With the latest Hytale 2.0 update, players may have noticed that there are two different map types: V1 and V2, corresponding to different versions of the game. Worlds created during V1 will be generated as “V1 seeds,” in which mythril spawns are disabled by default .

As a result, it’s currently impossible to obtain naturally generated mithril in the game. Unless players adjust game settings or use available mods, the only current way to obtain it is through Creative Mode .
Those wishing to test the new experimental “V2 seeds” version should ensure their world complies with the “World Gen V2” values set in the latest update. The developers clarified that “WorldGen V2 has been prepared for public documentation to assist modders.”
Not only did this make V2 world generation possible, but it also fixed a ton of bugs and adjusted the damage of enemies like the Lava Toads that terrorized players mining for ore underground.
