Unless you’re playing in Creative Mode’s perpetual world, you’ll soon encounter a multitude of enemies when creating a new world in Hytale . This is especially true after sunset, when hostile creatures become active in the open world under the cover of darkness.
Whether in the open world at night, in a cave system, or anywhere else without sunlight, in Hytale you’ll encounter a variety of monsters that will try to destroy you. These can be animals, creatures, and sometimes even other players.
Different enemies appear in different zones and areas.

Exploring locations and loot
Unlike Creative Mode, in Exploration Mode your character is vulnerable to all damage, including from open-world enemies, who may attack you upon first encounter. They generally prefer dark places , such as underground caves or shady areas of dense forests.
As a rule, if you venture out at night , after sunset, you’re almost certain to encounter enemies. The type of enemies you encounter will depend on the zone of Orbis you’re in, as nearly every enemy type in Hytale only appears in specific locations . While wandering the green fields of Zone 1, you’re unlikely to encounter the fiery monsters of Zone 4, but skeletons and other frightening creatures in the grass will be waiting for you.
Enemies are most often encountered in groups known as mobs — small clusters of enemies fighting simultaneously . Typically, a mob contains three to five creatures. Defeating each mob will reward you.
In situations like these, if you don’t have a way to attack all enemies at once, it’s smarter to focus on one enemy at a time until the entire group is down.

However, some enemies operate alone and are generally much more difficult to deal with. These include golems, cave raptors, and other high-level opponents. If you’re unprepared for such battles, there’s no shame in retreating and returning later with better gear.
Almost all enemy types drop loot after defeat as a reward for your efforts. These resources can be used in various crafting projects back at your base.
It’s worth noting that if your character dies in combat , they also lose items (assuming you selected this option when creating the world). You can disable loot drops on death in the New World settings, but it appears this setting can’t be changed later, so choose wisely. Don’t forget to carry food and healing items to make traveling easier!
Enemy behavior: hostile and passive
In most cases, you’ll immediately recognize that you’re facing an enemy eager for combat, as most opponents are hostile . They react to your avatar’s appearance in their line of sight with immediate aggression, attacking without warning and not retreating until one of you falls in combat. Almost all enemies fall into this category, and only a few aren’t enraged by your presence.

However, some creatures behave more passively . This means they don’t attack first , unlike the overtly hostile enemies in Hytale. However, they are guardians of the peace, not victims, and they will certainly fight back if attacked . These passive mobs are most often found in established villages or camps , such as among the Kuibek or Trork.

A single passive enemy is usually fairly easy to deal with, but attacking passive creatures at their spawn points or in camps with more than one enemy almost always results in an immediate group response . Nearby characters will come to your aid, and you’ll have a full-scale brawl on your hands. Some groups may even call in reinforcements from outside the camp to ensure you don’t escape unpunished.
Every enemy and his prey

In the table below, we’ve compiled information about all the enemies in Hytale to help you on your hunt.
The enemy’s name (in alphabetical order), its habitat, and approximate location to search for it are listed here, along with the loot that can be obtained upon defeat. This list is current during Hytale’s Early Access period.
Defeating stronger enemies almost always yields rarer loot, such as hard-to-find resources for crafting high-tier gear back at your base.
