Weapons play a key role in Hytale , as you spend most of the game facing hostile mobs, and your fists are ineffective in combat. So, if you don’t want to get eaten by a bear every few minutes, make sure you have at least one good blade equipped on your hotbar.
However, you still have to decide which weapon to choose. After all, there are plenty of them in the game. There’s a whole spectrum of different types, from long-range to close-quarters. This tier list includes all the main types.
Hytale is in Early Access, so some weapons may be updated and improved in the future.
How do levels work?
While there are many individual weapons in the game, most are simply upgraded versions of the base types. Therefore, only the best version of each weapon type is included in this list . In most cases, this means the mithril version.
So, we have eight weapons, divided into five tiers —from S to D. Here’s what each tier means:

S-tier weapons
The weapons in this section are absolute favorites in the world of Hytale. These instruments of destruction offer an excellent balance of damage, speed, and utility, making them the best choice for any serious challenge.

There’s only one weapon in the game worthy of an S-tier: the Mithril Sword . Crafted from mithril, it surpasses all other swords in strength. Swords, in general, are superior to other weapon types thanks to their balanced design.
While other types have serious drawbacks, swords are versatile combatants. With them, you’ll be fast and deadly. They also offer good defense, allowing you to use a shield.
Tier A weapons

Tier A features two completely different weapons with distinct strengths . Daggers are incredibly fast but deal little damage, while Maces deal massive damage but are slow.
Both speed and power are important for weapons in this game, and both are good enough at one thing to be considered Tier A weapons. Additionally, both can hit multiple enemies at once , which is also useful.
B-tier weapons

Tier B weapons include two of the best ranged weapons in the game . Considering they’re the best in their category, one might assume the Flame Crystal Staff and Mithril Shortbow deserve a place above Tier B.
However, their drawbacks are too great to reach Tier A. The need to use Fire Essence to fire the Flame Crystal Staff is a serious problem , as this resource is not easy to find. Furthermore, this staff does not deal impressive damage. The Shortbow, on the other hand, has a very low rate of fire due to the need to reload an arrow each time. Furthermore, arrows in the game lose altitude during flight, making accurate aiming difficult.
Of course, both weapons have their strengths. The staff is the only weapon truly deadly in both close and ranged combat. Furthermore, unlike arrows, the fireballs don’t drop, increasing accuracy. While the arrow drop reduces the shortbow’s appeal, it more than makes up for it with its incredible power.
C-tier weapons

The only weapon that made it into Tier C is the Mithril Battle Axe . It’s difficult to rate, as it’s not bad, but it feels a bit redundant. It doesn’t really do anything that the Mithril Mace can’t .
While the battle axe is slightly faster, it’s still very slow and lacks the damage of a mace . Furthermore, it’s not as effective at attacking multiple targets at once.
D-tier weapons

Tier D is reserved for the two most disappointing ranged weapons in the game. The Iron Crossbow is the lesser of two evils, but it’s also underwhelming. Being made of iron, its damage pales in comparison to the Mithril Shortbow ; its higher rate of fire doesn’t compensate for this shortcoming.
In crafting mode, the game indicates that the Ice Crystal Staff is in development, which becomes apparent upon using it. It deals virtually no damage and apparently doesn’t even freeze enemies. It’s definitely a weapon that could be improved in future updates, but for now, it’s not considered above tier D.
